Part Two: Deep Dive in to Day-Trading The One Minute Crude Oil Time-Frame. Short Selling Chart Structure, Price Reversal Intra-Day for Up Trend.

Part One of this Article is here Day Trading Signals for Crude Oil Sell-Off Shorting & Bullish Reversal | 1 Minute Chart | Oil Trading Strategies.

For this premium member post we will use this video (from part one) as a guide:

A Quick Explanation of Our Discipline.

We chart financial instruments using both conventional and algorithmic charting methods. Charted on all time-frames, we use up to fifty conventional indicators and back test charting up to sixty months. When complete, the algorithmic models then provide a structure of trade representing primary support and resistance areas, time cycle considerations and more. The process is ongoing with real-world testing and models are updated regularly.

Specific to crude oil, we now utilize eighteen proprietary algorithmic models (representing various time-frames). The models / data are used in our personal trading, distributed to internal members and commercial enterprise clients on regular rotation, broadcast live to our oil trading room, timely set-ups are shared to the private member Discord oil chat room and coded to our machine trading software.

This post deals specifically with one of eighteen models – the one minute time frame. And more specifically the sell off structure and reversal points that signal a trend change intra-day with crude oil trade.

The Structure of a Crude Oil Intra-Day Sell Off.

As explained in Part 1 of this post, crude oil sells off within a structure that is often very precise. Understanding the structure of trade can assist a daytrader in many areas of his/her trade management. This can include trade sizing, working the ebb and flow of trade up and down in price, setting stop orders, determining where, when and why to size in and hold and where to be cautious or not trade at all.

Learn From Our Machine Trade Development Process and Prior Trade Experience.

We, in our own development are dealing with these trade management considerations within intra-day trade. I myself as a day-trader can assess these indications or signals drawing on decades of prior experience, but this process becomes much different when you start coding software to trade crude oil.

When I am trading (as a person mechanically executing trades) I am using what I think is instinct and experience. But what exactly is that process? This is complicated to assess but is required when coding software to trade for you and is also important for any human trader to consider.

What I have learned is that I didn’t know anything about how crude oil really trades. I thought I knew, but I didn’t. And as we continue to develop software we continue to discover areas within trade on various time frames where machine liquidity has or is creating other points of structured trade that can be modeled. It is a very manually intensive process.

When you code software to trade a financial instrument such as crude oil futures it becomes an absolute discipline. It has to have an absolute rules-based system to execute trades (in our case our oil software now has near 4000 rules or instructions that it weighs against to make trade decisions). It is ones and zeros. There is no room for cognitive dissonance – no room for fooling oneself (more on this in a future post).

The main point is this, oil trade is very structured (there are times of day or week when it is loose but for the most part it is structured). It is structured because it is (in large part) machine liquidity that is trading crude oil intra-day – estimated to be well over 80%.

Commodity trading enters the age of digitisation.

Commodities Traders Increasingly Adopt Algorithms.

We are sharing our experience in the development of such software to assist human traders to be able to compete with that machine driven trade in oil (and we are providing data to other enterprise groups).

You will find that crude oil trades like no other and it does not trade the way conventional traders think it trades. The rules are in large part very different than what the average retail trader thinks.

We have recently completed coding software of the eighteen oil trade algorithm models (and our proprietary IDENT order flow software is fully in the code also). Last week we ran the software in real-world trade and finished cleaning the bugs from the code (we encountered ten and they weren’t nice to deal with – we had some intra-day draw-downs). We are now simply adding set-ups to the software (which equates to small updates vs large model code development) and we are also tweaking the software as we observe it trading real-time.

In other words, our development is largely done because all the models are in the software now and the trading sequences have all run which has allowed us to de-bug the software. Here forward we expect a much smoother ride with the software and I suspect that I as a human trader in crude oil will have a hard time competing with the software’s performance. In fact I would bet my life on it.

Why do I ramble on about this? Because a human trader has no other choice but to accept this reality if they are wanting to compete with the machines. Accepting this reality is step one. Step two is then developing a trading strategy based on what the machines are doing (the structure of the software) to compete and profit off the trade of crude oil.

I suspect that I as a human trader in crude oil that I will have a hard time competing with the software’s performance. In fact I would bet my life on it.

Back to Your Strategy. Lets Look at the Crude Oil Sell-Off Structure, Intra-Day Price Action and How to Trade the Signals Within the One Minute Chart Model.

Be sure you have read part one of this article, many of the intra-day oil trading strategy points of reference are explained in more detail at that post also.

Structure of the Financial Instrument is Key. Knowing the algorithmic structure (and conventional charting) for the time-frame you are trading (and preferably for all time-frames) is key to your success. This structure then becomes your point of reference (map / GPS / playing field) for developing your strategy (it is the structure that the machines are trading within).

The one minute model structure – the support and resistance lines and indicators include;

  • The trading range is shown on the chart as a thick horizontal dotted line with a red dotted line and a blue dotted line on either side of the white. When trade is very predictable this becomes important for support and resistance, especially in a squeeze set-up.
  • The other horizontal white lines are support and resistance points to consider – the thicker the line the more important they are in trade strategy consideration.
  • The down-sloping (down-trending) yellow dotted lines (thin) are the least in consideration, but are often included on the chart for our reference.
  • The up-sloping (up-trending) yellow lines are to be considered as support and resistance during predictable (high volume) trading periods as support and resistance in sell-offs.
  • The up-sloping (up-trending) white lines are decision lines, or you could look at it as indecision areas of trade. When trade is deciding to continue down (the yellow lines) or continue or reverse up (the blue down-trending) lines (see next point below).
  • The down-sloping (down-trending) blue lines are to be used as support and resistance when trade is bullish (again, as with all, these are more predictable in high volume periods of trade).
  • It is important to note that the lines are proprietary algorithmic calculated trend-lines (calculated based on historical trade).
  • And also of note, the lines are hand drawn “on-the-fly” by our lead trader or a staff member as time allows and sent out to clients, be aware that errors are common. We expect to have proprietary software in future for our clients that will minimize these issues.
  • Indicators include the 20 MA, 50 MA, 100 MA, 200 MA, VWAP, price and volume. You can double tap the field area of the chart to access Stochastic RSI, MACD and Squeeze Momentum Indicator.

Below is a screen shot of the one minute crude oil day-trading algorithmic model.

Direct links to the chart models are emailed to members in small group batches or for individual or commercial use. Please let us know if you are using more than one device to access the charting to assist us in dissemination of the model links.

One Minute Crude Oil Trading Chart Model for Day-Trader Signals in Developing Intra-Day Trade Strategy.

Other Chart Time-Frame Support and Resistance Matter. You need to be aware of all primary time-frames. You need the conventional charting trade set-ups that are in play at your disposal and the algorithmic structured models. The primary time frames we use are the one minute, 5 minute and 30 minute charting. We also use 15 minute, 60, 240, daily, weekly and monthly – often.

Knowing where the primary support and resistance are on the other time frames will provide clues to possible points of intra-day price reversal and / or points to trim your short or long positions.

Below is a recent example showing a close up of the one month oil model. Trade was recently near an important area of resistance on the one month model. The trader should then to develop a sound strategy look to the weekly, daily, 240 minute, one hour, 30 minute, 15 minute and 5 minute models to confirm price is breaking down at that resistance level and trade it on the one minute time-frame intra-day.

one month, crude, oil, trading, model

Recent example of oil sell off at key point of resistance on one month model, important for trade strategy to know.

And below on the thirty minute chart (as another example) trade was testing key resistance and then systematically sold off through the model. It continued below and a deep sell off ensued.

This resistance area (as shown) as being key could be confirmed as such on all the models.

For us in the back-office this was very frustrating because we had just finished coding the eighteen models to the new version of software and the old version was 20% short crude oil and when we loaded the new software the old was shut down and the positions were closed.

The old software (had we left it to trade the sequence) would have had a considerable gain trading the full range of the sell-off because the full range of the sell off was coded to the prior software. But unfortunately that is how it goes when you are developing. Thankfully the eighteen model version is our last for crude oil and only small tweaks and set-up updates will occur.

30 min, oil, trading, model

Prior to sell off resistance on 30 minute oil trading model had been tested and price systematically sold off.

One other example, and there are many (a simple screen shot from my Trading View account), is a 15 model chart provided to members on May 19 before the massive sell-off started showing the key resistance and the full trading range for their trading strategy – this was a premium set-up.

It wasn’t long after this the sell off took the oil price even lower than key support.

This was also when we loaded the new software (prior to the sell off), frustrating to say the least because we were de-bugging very large new version software instead of enjoying the harvest of the set-up (never again).

Increased Volatility Within Intra-Day Trade Structure. The price action of an intra-day crude oil sell-off is volatile (actually, the price action at certain points within the model has more velocity) and yet price is more precisely structured than at most other areas of trade.

When price falls out of the yellow line support you can short to the next yellow line support. However, the better or preferred method is to short in the sequence of trade as price bounces in to resistance.

Either method is okay (the shorting in to resistance is better) and both need to be harnessed in discipline. Discipline to cut your position when you are wrong.

Knowing where / when you are wrong is key – close your position fast and take a small loss.

In the image below of the one minute model during recent sell off trade action you see the following;

  • First trade fell through the blue bullish buy trade signal (top left of screen burgundy arrow) signalling no intra-day reversal in play yet and you can continue in a short selling position.
  • Price of oil then fell through the yellow line support (pink arrow) which is used as support in a sell-off for your trade strategy. So if you did trim your short in to that yellow line support from your previous short you could now add some again (below the yellow line) and look toward the next yellow line as a possible support in the sequence.
  • Price then continued in the trade sequence right through the next blue line (bull buy line signal) and in to the next sell-off sequence support area (signalling time to trim and cover or close), shown with the down trending green arrow on chart.
  • Price then bounced at the yellow line (white arrow) and went straight to the resistance line (just under the previous short confirmation line) and was also a resistance test of the 20 MA (blue arrow) – this was an ideal area to short again. Knowing that you are wrong is if price did not stop there and continued up to breach the previous yellow support / resistance line (pink arrow).
  • Price then sold off again dropping two floors to the 57.30 s – it then over shot the support of the yellow line (which often signals a near term trend reversal). Whenever price over shoots a key resistance or support line during active trade be sure to use caution because this is often a near term reversal point.
  • The area circled in white is the consolidation area of trade (hitting all kind of trend lines) before confirming the reversal in trade intra-day in crude oil.
  • The red arrow shows a clear confirmation bull buy bounce at a buy trigger for uptrend and the yellow arrow shows price breach a bullish part of the sequence for further confirmation that an intra day reversal in price is now in play. Additionally all the moving averages have now been breached by price action.
daytraders, one min, oil, chart

One minute crude oil daytrading model for our traders to assess short and long positions and determine reversal areas.

Precise Support, Resistance and Decision Areas. When the price of oil sells off it drops violently but stops at the next algorithmic support (yellow lines) with near precision almost every time. The opposite is true when it is trading in an intra-day uptrend (the blue lines). When price is indecisive it will use the white trend lines more and also perhaps the other support and resistance lines on the chart model. You can see example of this in the chart above.

Various Decisions at Support in Trade. When the sell-off stops at support it then will possibly bounce testing a variety of resistance points, stall and trade near support or violently drop to the next support in the sell-off sequence.

Determining Trend-Reversal and/or Low of Day Price. At points in the sell-off there are then indications of a near term bottom or trend reversal that may develop.

Some clues for a near term bottom and possible intra-day price reversal include (as noted above) overshooting support with immediate buy programs kicking in sending price higher, inter trend bounces in price that may become higher and higher or price may predictably start firing off (or respecting) decision areas of the model or bullish support and resistance decisions within the model (this is also shown in the oil chart above).

Time of day and time cycle decisions become important (see below) as does order flow volume (and more specifically who is in the trade, the velocity of the volume, when the volume is coming in and where on the model the volume is).

There are other signals to watch for also when expecting that an intra-day low has been put in or a trend reversal in price has occurred (more in a near future post specific to this topic).

Sell-Off Trends, Bullish Trends, Indecision Areas of Trade. The structure in sell-offs intra-day, in bullish trends and during decisions is different. Each use their own area of support and resistance points of structure (as explained above).

Time of Day Considerations and Important Dates. When trading crude oil you need to know when the various global regular market exchange sessions start (how premarket and open price action typically affects the price of oil) and how these various markets affect price action.

For example, during early futures trading, very little machine trade is active. This causes machine trade predictability to be “sloppy” or “loose”. Conventional indicators should be weighted heavier until machine liquidity starts to increase (normally around 3 am Eastern time).

Holidays such as the US Memorial Day holiday is another example of low liquidity in the crude oil futures markets – machine trade and model precision can be less than optimum also.

Machine liquidity will however “kick-in” if there is a news event that causes considerable action in trade. Holidays can be very “loose” also and “slippage” within models is common.

The daily US crude oil settlement at 2:30 Eastern, Tuesday 4:30 crude oil API report, Wednesday API report are also important times of trade to understand. Volatility can be extreme during these events and unless you are sizing your trade minimally or are an expert you may want to close out well before and re-enter any intra-day trading after the event (swing trades and longer term trend trades may not have consideration toward these times of the week).

Regular premarket action and market open action is important if you are daytrading crude oil. Understanding how the regular market price action works, where important support and resistance areas are and where important time cycle decisions are on various time-frames becomes very important for a day trader.

In all scenarios, especially in active trade, the one minute model can be used to assess and deploy your trading strategy minute by minute.

Time Cycles. Time cycles are critical. There are time cycles on all time frames of trade. For example, on the 5 minute model you will notice as trade nears a time cycle peak (represented on the 5 minute chart as a vertical green line) that trade will usually more aggressively trend toward a support or resistance.

crude, oil, time cycles, daytrading, chart

Example of crude oil moving from time cycle to time cycle peak intra day on 5 minute trading chart, follow general trend.

On the 30 minute crude oil EPIC model the time cycles are highlighted as Tuesday 4:30 API, Wednesday 10:30 EIA Report and Friday 1:00 Est Rig Count.

In Part One of this report I highlighted the time cycle on the one minute chart (pointing out where two or more trendlines meet price) and you could see the result of that price target (or time cycle). A time cycle is a commonly used area of price target trade for the machine programming to use in probabilities of crude oil trade.

There are many, many examples of time cycles in trade (so many I cant include them all in this article). I will endeavor to continue sharing such information as time allows in the oil trading chat room on Discord (as I have for some time, reviewing previous signals and guidance in the chat room is wise for newer members). I will also continue to post what we learn about the time cycles as they apply to crude oil trade on the various models in future articles.

Members / clients can also review previous EPIC Oil Algorithm posts on our website by clicking on the blog section and then selecting the EPIC posts link.

Know When to Trade a Bounce at Support or Resistance. Knowing how to time your entry specific to probability of success is very important. For example, when trade is selling off you would watch each bounce very carefully. How many ticks was the bounce and is the range increasing? Is the volume / order flow increasing at each support? Is there evidence of a final take-out of stop orders? A final slam down of price under the support and a vicious reversal is a common reversal trade set up in crude oil.

Machine Price Targets. Knowing where (and why) the price targets are for machine trade is on each time frame can help with your trading strategy. Where two or meet price.

Moving Averages. We often cover in the live oil trading room how moving averages determine price action during trade each day. Moving averages affect trade action differently on different time frames and at different areas of each structure. Here also more articles coming. For now, the most important consideration is that moving averages should be considered in your trade strategy as support and resistance within the time frame you are trading. You should also be aware of moving average support and resistance on various time frames (more than just the time frame you are trading) so that you are aware of any critical decisions on the near term horizon when daytradingc crude oil.

Trade Sizing. Obviously trade sizing should be more considerable at range area support and resistance. You can leg in to these moves and typically find considerable profit for your annual returns in these areas of trade. Daytrading should find your sizing to be on the low side. I will be writing very detailed articles soon on this topic as we refine our machine trade software. I also intend to share some of this information live in the oil trading room on a regular basis near terms.

Sizing your daytrading orders should be small as I mentioned, however, if you get good at timing the reversals in trend this can allow you to size in to those intr-day trends. I highly encourage daytraders to focus on the reversals. I have written some posts on the topic but intend to focus on reversals and trade sizing in the very near term both in writing and in the main trading room (posting videos etc also).

Daily Trend Signals (Following the Trend Intra-Day).

Intra-day trend for daytraders in crude oil is critical to lock in (it is also for our machine trade coding).

We have recently (as I mentioned) finished coding the 18 models (which was the biggest part of the heavy lifting – we have the structured models designed, tested in real world and coded). Also critical was order flow, we have that done. Next critical are the “set-ups” so that a daytrader or the software then knows what set-up intra-day is in play.

More specifically (for this post) the intra day trend of trade signal is critical. Knowing where the reversals are likely to take place, when they have occurred (confirmation) or even where continuation is taking place and then being able to size in to that trend in a predictable yet low risk way is really, really important for an oil daytrader.

This specifically will be our near term focus for our members, enterprise clients and our software development “tweaks” as one of the primary main focus set ups to be coded. I can’t over-emphasize its importance to your ROI.

You will find our focus specific to this over the coming days in the trading room, on Discord and in articles I provide members.

Below is an image that provides a clear example from today’s trade action in crude oil futures (on the Memorial Day Holiday Monday). The price moved 100 points from 58.22 at 9:00 AM this morning to 59.22 at near 2:30 as of time of writing.

Our machine software did not fire on the trade for numerous reasons (even though the trend was clear, it was confirmed structure on the 30 min EPIC model, it was firing off the blue support and resistance on the one minute model etc).

The software primarily did not fire because the liquidity was not in trade today for the software to confirm the trade.

So this is a clear example of the importance of having the trade set-ups also programmed to the software and giving the set-ups appropriate weight in the code vs. model structure and order flow. This is also very important for the human daytrader executing manual trades.

You will find that most days, at important support and resistance areas of the primary models confirmed at important time of day of trade that a trend for an excellent intra-day trade within your daytrade strategy is not only possible, but we believe highly probable to execute on a high percentage of days.

Trend following intra-day will be (as I’ve said) a very very high focus point for us near term (and the subsequent sizing etc).

In closing I’ll say that we’ve come a long way, it hasn’t been an easy grind up but we’re doing it one step at a time. I really appreciate you coming along with us on this journey.

If you have any other ideas or things you have learned in your own trading regarding this article please send me an email at [email protected] or shoot me a note if you have any questions etc. As I mentioned earlier in this post I will email the links for models independent of this article and the weekly EPIC reporting (in case you didn’t know) will be out Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday to allow for the chart data to reset for the week before we run the chart models.

Have a great week traders!

Curt

Below You Will Find Proprietary Oil Trading Signals Not Available Elsewhere.

When Crude Oil Starts Selling Off Intra-Day Volatility Increases Fast. Knowing Where and Having the Signals for Support and Resistance On The One Minute Chart Will Help Your Trading Strategy.

If you day-trade crude oil futures contracts (or if you are learning how to day trade crude oil) the chart models and signals below will help you understand the structure of trade on intra-day charting (like using a GPS or a map).

The trade signals provided below will increase your trading win rate and ROI on each trade (as you learn to trade the set-ups or strategies).

We can also help you with confirming that the trend is actually bearish (selling in downtrend) and when price is likely to reverse intra-day and oil trade is likely to turn bullish.

This is part one of a two part post (part one is public and part two is premium member only).

How Oil Sells Off Intra-day on Stairs to Support Floors Down.

The structure of oil sell-offs is not the same as when oil trades up. When crude oil trade is bearish intra-day you will find that it has specific areas of support / floors (this is also true when price is bullish but the structure or steps of trade are different).

When oil is trading down the price will often quickly drop to the next support and will then hang around for sometime and possibly test resistance areas for a possible reversal. When the reversal doesn’t happen or work then price drops quickly to the next floor of support.

The price of oil drops quickly to support and then the bulls will try and trade price back up (along with a certain amount of the shorts covering short positions) for a snap back or price reversal trade. At each support you will find this process occurring.

The more support there is on the charting (on various chart time-frames) the more likely a snap-back trade will occur (price reverses intra-day). This is why we have algorithmic models and conventional charting for all time frames that we use in the oil trading room, in member reporting and coded in to our machine trading software.

The goal is to know where each support and resistance point is on the charting so that you can develop a trading strategy for intra day moves in oil price.

When you know where the support and resistance is you can then day trade the price of oil with more perspective or clarity.

Before you can learn how to trade a financial instrument (such as crude oil futures contracts) it is important to know the structure of the instrument (as it applies to the charting on various time-frames).

Once you know the structure (the playing field or like I refer to it as a GPS or map) then you need to learn how to trade that specific structure (this is where your personal trading style and strategies come in to play).

Knowing where support and resistance is on the charting allows you to set stops properly, it also helps you with sizing the number of contracts you are trading (trimming and adding to your trade size) and more.

There are two reasons we know the chart structure in the trade of oil (every financial instrument has a structure – like your DNA or the rings on a tree).

One reason is that we construct algorithmic charting models and the other is that we are coding for machine trade of oil. Both reasons require us to back test our charting. It isn’t enough to chart conventional trend-lines (or whatever it is you are charting) and it isn’t enough to design an algorithmic chart model – the assumptions for consideration in trade, such as support and resistances areas, need to be back tested so that you have a quantifiable high probability of success.

You need to know that your assumptions provide highly probable set-ups (trade signals) to provide you a trading edge.

When we chart for the purpose of trading signals we first start with conventional charting (on all time frames) and then move to charting algorithmic models of highly probable areas of support and resistance of trade (visual representation of important structure points of the charting) and then we move to coding what we know to be most probable areas of support and resistance in trade. I should note for completeness that our models provide much more than support and resistance, there are other important trade signals such as time cycles, the structure of trade itself on various time-frames and much more.

We use the charting for crude oil on thirteen different time-frames (1 minute charting through to monthly charting), we chart it on conventional charts, work with algorithmic modelling and back test all the various indicators for up to 60 months (such as moving averages, VWAP, MACD, stochastic RSI and more).

When we back test our assumptions we are calculating the probability of that structure in trade re-occurring. When we find a structure with high probability of repeating then we model that structure and code it to our machine trade software.

In this specific area of day-trading (intra-day sell-offs and reversals) we can help you with what structure is in play on the one minute chart as oil sells off and what to watch for so that you know the sell-off is likely done and the price trend is about to change and turn bullish for price reversal.

Support And Resistance On The One Minute Oil Chart in Sell-Offs.

Specific to crude oil, sell-off support and resistance on the charting is VERY PREDICTABLE. You will find that the areas of support are very precise and price will step down in a very structured way on the chart – this is a near exact science.

Why is the trade of oil so precise on the one minute chart when oil sells off? The answer is very likely because the trade of oil is now mostly done by software programmed / coded for machine trade and this machine trade liquidity has caused very specific structures of trade to manifest.

Lets Look at Some Recent Crude Oil Trade From our Oil Trading Room.

Below is a screen shot from our oil trade chat room on Discord (which is not the same as the live broadcast oil trading room) of a comment and a chart of intra day trade in crude oil (this was posted at 1:03 PM last Thursday).

My comment in the trading room reads “perfect structured sell down out of support in to next buy trigger”. What this means is that crude oil sold off intra day, it lost its area of support (the yellow diagonal trend line on the one minute chart model) and then dropped perfectly to the next support decision line on the chart (yellow line again) and then price bounced to test resistance.

By the way, the crude oil trade alerts are both what you see below (the Discord private server screen images below) and alerted on a private member Twitter feed.

This structure (you see below) occurred over and over again daily this week during sell-offs. This is a very predictable structure for knowing where to short oil intra-day, where to trim (cover) size of your short position and where to possibly find support for a reversal trade in your intra-day trading strategy.

Click here for an article that explains what short selling is.

This is by far one of the most predictable signals available for day-trading crude oil you will find. It has one of the highest probabilities of success in oil trade model charting.

The key to success however is learning what the structure is (having the model at your disposal for when you trade) so that you can size your trades properly and set stop orders properly etc – learning how to use the signals for your strategy and knowing when trade is likely to stop selling off so that you can then begin planning for a trend reversal.

This is a very predictable structure for knowing where to short oil intra-day, where to trim (cover) size of your short position and where to possibly find support for a reversal trade in your intra-day trading strategy.

And then in the screen shot below from the oil trading room you will see on the next chart posted to the room that oil started to bounce (or trade up) from the support (or buy trigger signal) on the chart. I then asked our software developer Jeremy to note that the software did not trigger a long trade for our coding updates to be done later that night.

Look close at his answer / comment to my request, he knew why the software did not signal a trigger for a long trade (and also why there was no trade alert as such on our member feed to buy)… it was because the order flow program (our proprietary IDENT software) knew that the machine liquidity in the markets was not buying that support and that they were going to sell it off again.

the order flow program (our proprietary IDENT software) knew that the machine liquidity in the markets was not buying that support and that they were going to sell it off again.

And sure enough, if you look at the next image below you see that they sold oil off again shorting it down to the next step in the sequence to the next support on the chart structure (next yellow line down representing next support in a sell off). Again, it was precise trade action.

Then you will notice that I alerted the oil trading room (at 1:12 PM Thursday) that the bulls are starting to buy at each support area of the one minute chart (in other words, be aware that a price reversal in intra-day trade could occur soon).

There were buy programs and/or day-traders starting to buy at supports that are not support areas for a continued sell-off, they are areas of support for either indecision (or a decision is needed) or support for trading bullish (or in an uptrend).

This is key – the fact that buys were coming in at bullish support areas or decision areas on the model (this is an early sign or signal of an imminent reversal). These lines are at the white diagonal (signals a decision area of charting) and the blue diagonal (signals bullish support) on the chart model.

Oil was trading at 57.44 on FX USOIL WTI at the time.

This is key – the fact that buys were coming in at bullish support areas or decision areas on the model (this is an early sign or signal of an imminent reversal).

Screen capture of oil trading room alert signalling for daytraders to watch for trend reversal in day trade action.

And then next trade in crude oil reversed with a bounce and was threatening a confirmation signal for trend reversal. I was explaining to our day traders in the room at the time (this screen shot is taken on the weekend so you don’t see who was in the oil trade room at the time in the image) what to watch for in intra-day trade action for a confirmation of trend reversal. In this example I highlighted an area of the chart model where machines are programmed for a price target.

And then next trade in crude oil reversed with a bounce and was threatening a confirmation signal for trend reversal.

And then in this image (screen shot from oil trading room) you see that trade hit the price target and got through resistance confirming more that the low of day in trade had been put in and that we were now alerting bias to uptrend trading signals going forward for oil trade on the day.

Note the low of day was in fact 57.33 and I has alerted at 57.44 that the bulls were starting to step in (during the extreme sell-off) at key bullish areas of the algorithm chart model – this is machine trade. Knowing what the large liquidity in machine trade is doing is key now when day trading crude oil. This is very important.

oil, trading, room, reversal, trade, signal, alert

Image (screen shot oil trading room) oil trade hit price target through resistance confirms uptrend trading signals

Looking at the chart below you can see very clearly how precise the day trading signals are on the daytrading algorithmic crude oil model.

  • The green arrows show three shorting opportunities from yellow diagonal support / resistance to the next yellow diagonal support / resistance (like stairs stepping trade down in the model).
  • You will notice that the last stair down that trade over shot the yellow line a bit, this is a signal that an intra-day bottom is being put in.
  • You can also notice (from the charts shown above) that as buying came in at the decision support / resistance lines (white diagonal lines on chart model) and at the blue decision diagonal support / resistance lines that I alerted a possible trend reversal in trade.
  • Then you will notice (see chart below) that trade got through the yellow resistance after bouncing (yellow arrow on chart) – this is a bullish intra-day signal that a reversal is likely near.
  • And then next in trade you will see that trade bounced at the blue diagonal trend-line (blue arrow) when it pulled back from resistance, a bounce at a blue line is further confirmation that trade is now bullish intra-day. The blue lines are used as support and resistance in an intra-day uptrend.
  • And then the subsequent blue arrows on the chart show how trade breached in to the next bullish area, then pulled back and used the blue line as support (after confirming up after hitting a decision white line) for a bounce and then so on through the bullish trade reversal in the daytrading sequence.
  • Blue is for trading in uptrend, yellow is trading a sell off, white is a reference point for a decision to go up or down in trend on the model.
  • The trend-lines on this algorithm model are not conventional. The trend-lines are algorithmic calculations and therefore proprietary and not available elsewhere.

How powerful is that for an oil daytrader?

Knowing exactly where the support and resistance is during a sell-off and knowing with high probability where the turn is likely to happen for reversal in trade and then knowing exactly where to trade the uptrend.

Crude Oil Trade Strategy Updates Week of May 19, 2019.

Signals for CL Day Trading, Trend and Swing Trading. Intra-Day, Daily, Weekly, Monthly Time-Frames.

The charts, algorithm models, signals, price targets and guidance included below are suitable for mechanically executed trading and are also the models our coding staff reference for our crude oil machine trade development.

With each chart model we may include trade strategy notes for your consideration.

For perspective review historical reporting on our blog and the various videos we have published to our YouTube channel.

Much of the structured model discipline used is similar in concept as discussed in this video; Mathematician Who Cracked Wall Street.

Crude oil price moves within structured areas (ranges) of charting on various time frames (different time cycles in trade). The structure oil price moves within (the range) can be one minute charting timing through to monthly charting. Time-frame set-ups / strategies are charted as conventional chart set-ups and/ or algorithmic chart set-ups (structures). Understanding and having each time frame at your immediate access (both conventional and algorithmic) will increase the probability of profitable trading.

Sizing your trades appropriate to your trading account and time frame for each set-up is additionally positive strategy.

Using the correct chart time-frame specific to your trading strategy is critical. Generally, the lower (smaller) the time frame the less predictable the support and resistance areas of the chart will be. However, the larger time-frames (monthly, weekly, daily) can also have significant “slippage”.

Generally, the idea is to enter your positions based on the structure for the specific time frame you are wanting to trade referencing the other time frame support and resistance or range within the trend. The basic method is to understand the range of trade and execute trade long bias when price is near support for the appropriate time frame / structure and the opposite is true for short trades.

Our staff use the thirty minute model structures (range within trends) most often for primary areas of support and resistance trading signals referencing all other time-frames in their trading strategy.

Positioning should be significantly biased to the trending range of trade. For more information about trend identification for trading various time-frames refer to this article on Investopedia; Multiple Time Frames Can Multiply Returns.

If you have questions about the models below please email us at [email protected].

Not all charts are updated every week and some concept or test charts are added or deleted on occasion.

Please note, the chart links are now distributed specific to each user or small group of users. If you are using more than one device to access the charting, to avoid disruption of service, please email us a simple / general description of those devices to assist in controlling dissemination.

EPIC Crude Oil Algorithm Model. 30 Minute Oil Chart Structure.

The EPIC algorithm model chart below is a proprietary structure that has been back tested sixty months on thirteen time-frames. The model represents the most probable areas of support and resistance in oil trade within this specific time-frame.

The levels noted on the EPIC model are to be used as important areas of consideration for support and resistance (trade signals) for your trading strategy when using conventional charting set-ups / structures and/or other algorithmic charting.

Resistance and support areas on the thirty minute charting oil trade structure are at each line on the algorithmic chart. The primary areas of support and resistance are;

  • Outer quadrant walls / also used as channel support and resistance (orange dotted diagonal lines), the half way point between each is often an executable buy or sell trigger in trade (not shown on model below),
  • Mid channel line for uptrend and down trend (white dotted diagonal),
  • Mid quad horizontal (not marked but is at the mid point of the quad),
  • Fibonacci levels (various horizontal colored lines),
  • Historical areas of support and resistance (purple horizontal).
  • The intra-week swing trading range is from thick horizontal gray line to the next (commonly becomes a pivot area of trade).
  • Also of note are the price targets for Tuesday 4:30 PM (API), Wednesday 10:30 AM (EIA) and Friday 1:00 PM (Rig Count). The Tuesday and Wednesday targets hit significantly more often than the Friday target (red circles with red or green vertical dotted lines intersecting).
  • At times other indicators are added to the chart such as trend lines and moving averages.

The video at this link explains How to Use EPIC Oil Algorithm: $USOIL, $WTI, $CL_F, $USO, #OIL, #Trading, #Algorithm, #OOTT as does this video Oil Trading Room – How to Use EPIC the Oil Algorithm Model Chart June 21 #OIL #OOTT and this Webinar 1: EPIC the Oil Algorithm.

When conventional crude oil charting coincides (or agrees) with the EPIC algorithmic model support and resistance this is then considered a significant buy or sell trigger (signal) for crude oil trade.

Remember to be aware of (at minimum) the primary support and resistance areas on the larger time-frames (lower time frames are not as critical) – in this instance (when trading the 30 min time frame) the 1 hour, 4 hour, daily, weekly and monthly charting should be considered when sizing your trades etc.

May 19 – White trend lines have been added this week for top of recent trade range on watch. Also, in preparation for a possible turn down in range or a break – out above the trend line we have added the moving averages to the charting.

It goes without saying that we are watching the resistance trendline above (white line on algorithm model) and a break down possible under corresponding to price resistance at moving average resistance tests as price bounces and tests each moving average.

Crude Oil Trade Setup Strategy When 20 MA Crosses up 200 MA with Price Above on One Minute Chart.

42 tick move when the 20 MA crossed up through 200 MA with price above on the one minute oil chart. There was some chop after price initially moved above 200 MA with 20 MA so you have to be prepared for this scenario. Often day traders will wait for price to get above the 200 MA and over the next level (the next Fib, the next MA or VWAP or previous / recent high in progression).

Crude Oil Trade Setup Short Strategy When 20 MA Crosses Down 200 MA with Price Below on One Minute Chart.

38 tick move when the 20 MA crossed down through 200 MA with price below on the one minute oil chart. There were a few pops up over 200 MA with price after initially coming under 200 MA so you have to consider that, quite often traders will wait for the confirmation when the 200 MA test fails to upside (which happened in the example below when the 50 MA then crossed down the 200 MA with price under).

Choppy intra day trade in crude oil on one minute chart. Wait for confirmation signals.

The example one minute oil chart below provides charting for choppy intra-day scenario. This is an example of why waiting for confirmation signals is prudent. Also note that this choppy intra-day trade was early in the evening in early futures trade, typically not the best time of day to trade crude oil. 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM Eastern Time is best for trading oil.

Also consider the trend line support and resistance and moving averages on both the 30 minute algorithm chart model and the conventional 30 minute oil charting.

The moving averages (especially the 200 MA) should be considered in your trade strategy. The MACD is a common indicator on the daily oil chart for forward positioning and trend bias.

April 28, 2019 Trading Strategy / Set-Up Based on Symmetry in the Trend on the Daily Chart.

A sell off in exact place in structure of daily chart model did occur once previous in this trend (see two circled areas on daily chart below).

The two instances of selling pressure in the bullish daily trend in oil trade happens to be a perfect symmetrical measured extension in the progression.

IF crude oil trades up the same measured extension as the low to the first sell off in the symmetry, this would imply a high in this trend for crude oil on FX USOIL WTI to approximately 69.00 – if symmetry continues.

Before a pull back, or about 600 ticks from where oil is currently trading at 62.96.

Mastering Crude Oil Intra-Day Moves – The Regular USA Market Open Provides Significant Range of Trade and Opportunity for Profitable Day Trades.

This in depth article series looks closer at trade strategies oil traders can use to gain an edge. We are currently coding these specific set-ups to our machine trading software.

Mechanical (human) traders can also learn from this process and use the methods in day trading, trend following and swing trade planning.

We hope to produce one article per week in this series.

Article Structure (Part 1, 2, 3…).

Each article will cover a specific oil trading strategy (set-up) and will include at least 3 parts.

  • Part 1 – Public facing unlocked post that outlines the general trade set-up and generally how the set-up can be traded (in most instances this will include some conventional charting, the chart links for live chart sharing are included in Part 2).
  • Part 2 – Premium member post (locked) that will explain in detail the technical set-up on conventional and algorithmic chart models and how to specifically execute each trade to gain an edge (timing each trade entry, sizing, trimming and adding to positions, technical indicators and more). We will also look at the week to come and how to plan your trading.
  • Part 3 – Each trading strategy will include at least one follow-up article to review real world trading examples from our live oil trading room (live video examples with voice broadcast from our lead trader, chat room logs, live alert screen shots, order sizing, profit and loss and more).

Specifically in this article we look closely at the regular USA equity market open and how to day trade momentum during this important time in crude oil trade.

A List of Common Strategies Used to Day-Trade Crude Oil (Point Form).

There are a number of ways (strategies, methods) a trader can use and refine to gain an edge when trading crude oil. Some examples include and are not limited to;

  • Trend Following / Swing Trading within trending price of oil on various charting time-frames within trading channels. For example, the price of oil has followed a channel on larger time frames (4 hour, daily, weekly etc) since December 24, 2018. The price of oil followed the channel from lows of 42.44 on December 24, 2018 to highs of 66.64 on April 23, 2019 (charted on FX USOIL WTI below). On Friday oil closed 61.69 to end the week. Price has been consolidating / moving sideways over the last week.
  • Price Range Trading. Be prepared to take long trades near oil chart time-frame lows and shorting near the price range highs.
  • Price Reversal Trades (Snap-Back Trades). Crude Oil Intra-Day Sell-offs offer a great opportunity for a reversal day trade long (with significant opportunity for gains intra-day, as do intra-day tops in price). The key is knowing how to trade this set-up.
  • Technical Chart Trading – Conventional and Algorithmic Models. This may include trading Fibonacci levels, VWAP, MACD, Stochastic, Candle Stick Patterns, structured Algorithmic Models and much more.
  • Day Trading Time-of-Day Trend Inflections during market event timing such as when regular equity markets open around the world. Specifically in this article we look at the USA regular equity day market open. There are other examples such as other global market openings, EIA at 10:30 AM Eastern on Wednesday (the crude oil inventory report), API report at 4:30 PM Tuesday, daily 2:30 EST settlement, 6:00 PM futures open and more.
    • crude, oil, sell off, market open, trade

Tues May 7 crude oil price sells off at regular market open over 80 points to reverse more than 100 points intraday.

  • There are many other examples such as; inventory levels, summer driving season, tanker movement, Geo Political events, market sentiment and more.

Example – Day Trading the Regular Market Open Momentum Strategy. Lets Start with Reviewing Oil Trade From Last Week.

On Monday May 6 (to start the week) crude oil market open momentum set-up sees crude oil trade from 61.24 at 9:27 AM – 61.90 at 10:17 AM, a progressive increase in price from overnight futures session after a late week sell off the week prior. A 66 tick early day move in price.

The opportunity was a 66 tick move on a long side trade at open and then the retrace was as big of a move and then price ran after that through the rest of the regular trading session.

Just the open momentum trade and retrace (lasting just over an hour) was an opportunity for over 100 ticks. That’s a serious opportunity, and it isn’t unusual. In real dollar terms with one contract in CL that equates to a 1,000.00 USD (approximate) gain at market open (if you can learn to trade it predictably).

The one minute oil chart below shows the trade action at market open.

daytrading, crude, oil, strategy, market open

Monday May 6 to start the week crude oil market open momentum has crude oil trade 61.24 – 61.90.

Monday morning was a long trade until 10:17 AM, the momentum started right before open at 9:27 AM, it was (in general on an intra-day time-frame) a follow-through momentum trade from overnight futures the night prior. Sunday night trade melted up after a sell-off late the week prior.

The overnight trend trade strategy will be dealt with in detail in a near future post. For now, the main takeaway here is to follow the intra-day trend until it breaks (generally speaking your bias should be toward trend).

In this instance, price then (after the overnight move and the market open move) went on to trend up through the regular day session for significant gains.

Monday morning was long crude oil trade follow-through momentum from futures the night before.

How to Trade It – Indications to Confirm Trading Crude Oil Long at Regular Session Open.

Lets look at some conventional charting indicators and then in the follow up Part 2 of this article we will take a close look at our algorithmic model indications that can help confirm direction of trade, sizing, range and more.

  1. Trade In Direction of Intra-day Trend. As above, intra-day trend was for a long bias in oil trade in to open.
  2. Chart Indicators. Conventional chart indicators for day-trading crude oil – Stochastic RSI, MACD, SQZ MOM, Volume, Momentum, Moving Averages, Candle Stick Patterns etc. The one minute chart provides perspective / confirmation of how difficult it is to day trade crude oil with only conventional indicators and conventional charting. The indicators and charting can help, but the indicators (such as Stochastic RSI, MACD, SQZ MOM) can also hinder bias. You’ll notice the selling retrace prior to open that started around 7:00 AM that the Stochastic, MACD and SQZ MOM all confirmed properly that price was selling off (albeit they are trailing indicators) but when price started to trade up they were at best indecisive. And when the regular market open came and price continued to trade up the SQZMOM was turning down, the MACD was indecisive and the Stochastic RSI moved up. Bottom line, it is not easy to use these simple charting indicators. Volume came in progressively in to open – that was a bullish signal and price was upside of all the moving averages (a positive sign for a short term bullish bias in a momentum scenario). All-in-all bias should have been to the long side, but it was no easy trade. Structured charting (conventional and algorithmic) provides a better road map with detailed support and resistance levels so that you can direct your trade accordingly. You can weigh important support and resistance against intra-day trade, sizing and various other decisions. Also of note, the candle sticks did provide some clue, like the long wick prior to selling, the double bottom and top candlesticks and so on. But they only provide clues and should carry little weight on a one minute time-frame.
  3. The Psychology of Round Numbers and Time of Day Trading. When price turned down at around 7:40 AM (nearing that time of day when traders start looking toward the US regular market open) oil was trading at 61.62 (which is just north of 61.50 and doesn’t provide for optimum range at open), optimum range is a full 100 ticks, 40 ticks isn’t consider a great open range and 50 ticks isn’t ideal so “lets sell off to 61.00 for a move to 62.00” is the general mentality of the mass. Yes, it can be this simple. Simple, yet difficult to execute. Then as 9:00 AM nears the price is now nearing 61.00 as it slowly sells down (trading at 61.09) and like magic you get two solid candles and the sell down stops. Trade then struggled with the 200 MA and also as it neared the previous premarket highs as the regular market open neared and then at regular session open price and volume drove the price of oil from 61.41 to 61.89. 61.89 is nearing 62.00 and selling pressure starts. Then price sells off and returns to the session open range once again. This is not an easy premarket, run in to regular market open, market open momentum and topping trade. Experts can trade it (especially with sophisticated models), but not easy even for an expert.

conventional, crude, oil, daytrading, chart, market open

Conventional chart indicators for daytrading crude oil, Stochastic, MACD, SQZ MOM, volume, moving averages, candle sticks etc.

  4. Sentiment. After a brief pull back, crude oil then trades from 61.40 – 62.90 on short term geo political and market sentiment. 150 tick move.

    crude oil, daytrading, sentiment

After a brief pull back, crude oil then trades from 61.40 – 62.90 on trade war sentiment and optimism. 150 tick move.

  5. Range of Trade. Be aware of the near term historical range of trade. You can see on the 30 min chart below that crude oil trade found support at a key horizontal historical support and diagonal trend-line. and ran to a key price range resistance. The chart used is derived from the long term trend line chart shown below this one.

  6. Trading Price Channels. Below is the long term chart trending channel that has been consistently trading since Dec 24, 2017 and more recently come under pressure.

This 15 min oil chart shows the move in Monday trade from the channel support to just over channel resistance.

  7. Chart Structures. All of the various charting provides trading structure clues for range of trade to weigh trade risk sizing against various support and resistance. In Part 2 of this article we look at the algorithmic chart models and other conventional charting for last week and the week to come.

Conclusion.

Having a good handle on the charting for the specific time-frame you are trading is important. Conventional and algorithmic charting can be used. Also having a good understanding of market sentiment, general trade trend direction, market timing and more can help you win.

In Part 2 we dive deeper in to how to day-trade the regular session market open momentum. It will be sent to premium Oil trading bundle and stand alone newsletter members before regular session open Monday morning!

RE: EPIC Crude Oil Algorithm Machine Trading Software Advisory Specific to Trade Frequency Protocol “Throttle” and IDENT Program Description.

We are now near two months of running the machine trading software for crude oil futures contracts (CL).

During the testing phase, which will continue for some time as we adjust code instructions, the execution of trades by the program is “throttled”. Meaning specifically that the frequency of trade was specifically limited to the highest and then was adjusted to a higher win probability threshold.

The result of the initial testing achieved near 100% win side trade accuracy, but less than optimum trade frequency. Increased frequency may (will in our estimation) return a higher ROI – assuming the win rate percentage achieved is high enough. This of course is a complicated calculation within the code that reflects the win side average per trade return vs. loss side average per trade. In short, the loss side is programmed to be less (limited by way of higher frequency executions – tight stop triggers) and when trade is on win side the trade profit is increased via trade size that is progressively trimmed as the trade is in progress. Refer to private Discord oil trade chat server for real-time discussion between developers and traders for more detail.

An article is available at this link that displays some of (actionable by a human trader executing trades manually) the oil machine trading results, much of which was throttled considerably and much of which had human intervention – in other words, had the software been released to execute totally autonomous the returns would have been considerably higher – but we are testing. The highlighted trades returned a 63% increase on the “large account” test for the one month duration. This achievement was specifically to the alerted trades, not the higher frequency machine trades.

The “alerted trades” meaning that which could be considered actionable alerts to our subscribers. The machine software executed many times more trades but our current alert system platform (Twitter private member feed, Discord private chat server, Oil trading room live broadcast) cannot for the most part distribute alerts fast enough for the higher frequency trades to be considered actionable by a human executing trades manually (a trader digital platform is on the team WIP to remedy this). In consideration also is that the higher frequency trade protocols could easily be reverse engineered to expose the proprietary protocols under our IDENT program – this remains a discussion point internally and how the higher frequency trades will be shared is in question (more on that at a later date).

The “throttle” was initially set to approximately 20 x and over the course of fifty days progressively lowered to function near 10 x with less and less human intervention along the way. 20 x for example would result in twenty times less trade frequency than would otherwise be if the software was not “throttled” at all.

Today (Feb 22 at 2:11 AM EST) the code was adjusted considerably to be “throttled” to be less than 10x and will be lowered progressively over the next 7 trade days. The win rate vs. return as it would be calculated over a month is the achievement bar (goal) in focus. More on this objective and other clarification in near future updates.

Market condition will also result in variance of execution frequency as will holiday weeks specific to the model(s) divergence.

The main takeaway: In to next week the frequency of trade will be considerably higher with an objective being to find the most optimum throttle setting to achieve the highest return. The win rate is expected to near 80% and not near 100% and the return on equity on a monthly basis to increase considerably.

The 63% monthly return (monthly return in this instance meaning account equity size increase as it relates to alerted trades only) is a favorable start, however, our team believes 100% + return per month is consistently attainable (on average over a year) and in a perfect machine executed world 300 – 500% being optimally possible. For now our objectives are to achieve consistent wins at higher than 80% with a frequency of about 60 to 120 trades per month with a return averaging 100% per month (the bar).

The IDENT program is a protocol specifically to order flow identification of market participants achieved by way of historical pattern recognition of between 20 – 40 entities that we consider largest and approximately 200 entities that we consider important enough to attempt to track. The entities are prioritized in what we describe as an “alpha” order. The IDENT program is in large part the topic of this recent article at this link that describes the influence of machine trade in the crude oil trade market as experienced by our lead trader and is in large part the reason for the “intuitive like” nature of our software protocol.

The IDENT program seeks to enter trade direction with prioritized alpha order flow and exit in the same fashion. It is a proprietary process and the instruction set within the code architecture will in large part remain private.

For more information on how our development has progressed, refer to this link that will immerse you in a series of articles written from first hand perspective of the day to day trading of our lead trader with crude oil futures.

Thank you.

Crude Oil Day Trading Session From Oil Trading Room – Trading Set-up Short Waterfall Strategy.

If you want to learn how to day trade crude oil, or if you want to win more often and already are an oil day trader this post with live video from our oil trading room will provide you with insight to how I day trade crude oil.

The planning and preparation I perform prior to every trade (such as reviewing support and resistance on all time frames and charting), the signals I watch for and what the water-fall short trade set-up looks like and specifically how to day trade the price action.

This is a very detailed video and I highly recommend oil traders study it for maximum consistency to your trading gains.

Voice broadcast starts at 1:23 on video.

At start of this video there are announcements about what we are doing (our staff work in progress) and general view of markets and how the trade of equities (swing trades) is affected by nearby resistance on oil charting.

Topics of announcements include the coding updates for the machine trading, status of algorithm reports, the huge month in our oil trading last month (up 63% in one month), trade alerts, digital platform for our clients to watch machine trade real-time, swing trade timing for equity and various algorithm model swing trade positioning in this time cycle, why the machine trading can beat my overall return performance by 10 times, coding of other algorithm models, the publishing of the rule-set modules for oil trading (mechanical human executed & machine traded, intra-day swings, longer term swings and daytrading).

The Pull Back In Oil Trade.

At 9:20 I discuss the trade action in oil as we trade near key resistance in oil. We should see 53 and possibly 52’s and even more down.

Trade Signals to Watch For Positioning Swing Trades, Intra-Day Swings and Day Trading..

When trade hits support for a proper bounce we know when machines are in trade because the trade action becomes really clean within the models. This predictable trade action provides a signal for when to start longer swing trade entries, helps us with intra day swing trades within the EPIC trading model and provides for precise day trading on the one minute model.

Trend Line Support on Watch.

At 10:30 on video the basing trend-line on the 4 hour chart is reviewed as support. Conclusion of this pull back in oil should come soon. I am expecting at latest Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Watch for violent trade up / down (stops taken out), most likely down first so I am positioning my bias for that scenario first. Likely a sharp down and then sharp up and then the mid point between the two points should be the decision area.

Tomorrow is EIA so this could be your timing or likely before end of week is likely for the spike up and down and then the pivot decision goes in to Sunday night futures.

One Minute Crude Oil Day Trading Model.

At 12:48 I discuss trade on the one minute day trading model. The problem in trade as we get close to key resistance decision is trade becomes sloppy. So I show you how to trade the model if you need to trade and you don’t want to wait for the decision on oil trade trend direction.

The indicators are late so you have to act on price prior.

How to Trade a Key Intra-Day Break to Down Side (Waterfall) or Upside. The Oil Day Trade Starts Live on Video Here.

At 14:00 the intra-day possible break to downside in trade is discussed.

Planning and Preparation for Your Day Trade – Know Your Key Support Area on Charting Prior to Entering a Trade.

  • When trade on the one minute charting looks like a break to downside (or upside) is possible I first go to the EPIC model for key support or resistance. 53.52 is at mid quad on model, so that is support to watch.
  • At 16:24 on video 53.00 is a support on the daily chart (a Fibonacci support on the oil daily chart and the 20 MA support).
  • 51.13 is next support and 57.31 for Feb 20 is the upside scenario.
  • My bias is pull back and then go again.
  • 53.00 – 55.50 is a likely pivot area until a conclusion occurs in this trade area.
  • Daily, crude, oil , chart

Oil trading room screen shot shows 53.00 support daily chart Fibonacci oil daily chart and 20 MA

  • At 18:00 on the video the weekly oil chart is reviewed.
  • The price extension support and resistance, the 20 MA 57.00 and 200 MA 52.30 (as your broad trading range) and trend lines on the weekly charting is reviewed. 53.26 price extension is serious support and price under that is an obvious short.

Know Where the Price Targets Are for the Machines.

  • Discussed is the end of week and EIA price targets on the EPIC algorithm model. The algorithmic channel and quad support and resistance areas.

Preparing My Short Order Day Trade in Oil Live on Trading Room Video.

  • At 20:00 on video I get my trading execution ready.

The Trade Pattern Set-up (Signal).

At 20:30 on video – When you see this pattern (trade signal) on the one minute charting model be very careful to cut your trade fast if the machines kick in the other direction (long).

Trade When Signals Are Most Predictable.

I prefer trading oil when the trend is clear and the machines are in it. Reports say over 80% of oil traders lose. This is largely why. Trade gets sloppy and then frustrates the trader.

Money in crude oil trading is made in the trend. Near resistance trading can mind mess you.

This is why I close my DWT short swing trade when we got near key resistance.

Winning is Important.

Not only is losing bad for your account but it is even more important for your mind. Your subconscious needs to know it wins. The subconscious is powerful.

Day Trading Model.

Location of trading boxes around three pivot areas of the one minute crude oil day trading chart model.

24:00 on video pivot resistance is discussed.

trading box, daytrading, crude oil

Pivot Resistance on the One Minute Oil Chart Model.

I am short bias to 53, 52.75 then 51.20 is possible.

Indicator Signals.

At 24:45 on the one minute you have stochastic RSI increasing and price that is basing, typically that means down next or even a possible waterfall short trade set-up.

The Risk-Reward (the Math of the Trade) On a Down-Side Break Set-up.

At 25:20 I start to discuss the math of the trade. You can take the short side trade and if price turns on you then you take a maximum cut of 16 ticks on the trade, but if price gets you on the right side and continues to confirm short then your win will be much bigger return.

Short Trade Executed – Play by Play.

At 25:42 on the video at 53.77 my short trade execution is done live.

Fibonacci support, crude, oil

Buys came in to oil trade intr day at the Fibonacci support on the one minute model shown (red arrow).

At 26.50 buy side trades are testing the 20 MA resistance on 1 minute chart.

At 28:34 on video trade is over the 20 MA trading 53.83 hit resistance on the pivot on the 1 min just under 50 MA.

Indicators are turning up now. Started to look like a reversal trade but I stayed with the plan because trend on the day was down and I didn’t want to be chopped up.

Trade hit 53.87 before it turned back down (so I was 10 ticks off side at that point). Technically trade got a penny or two over trading box resistance but I held because the bulls needed to have big buys and momentum to kick in to fight the daily trend which was pressure in trade.

At 32.35 the 4 hour chart is reviewed and my target for the risk reward to down side. The reward potential was much better in my thinking.

The EPIC model confirms also.

At 33:40 the weekly chart shows a good risk reward also.

Protecting you capital is key and trading for risk reward on trend for the time frame.

30 minute candle turn timing is discussed.

The pivot test continues.

At 39:13 on the video the technical area of key support for the day trade is reviewed. 53.58 is the next Fib down so you want trade to break under that and hold under 53.58 and if it doesn’t you’re best closing the trade for a scalp. This is purely a math play. You will win 50% and win you do win you’ll either get a decent scalp or a larger 5 x risk reward win.

This is purely a math play. You will win 50% and win you do win you’ll either get a decent scalp or a larger 5 x risk reward win.

At 42:47 volatility VIX is reviewed and how I want volatility to start rising intra-day.

At 45:28 the importance of trading in a zen state vs. frustration is discussed.

At 46:00 trading on bias based on technical set-ups and protecting your capital (accepting it quickly when you are wrong) is key to trading success.

At 48.00 the inverse head and shoulders that technicians on Twitter were talking about is discussed relative to the risk reward on the 30 minute chart price target.

How I Knew Where to Close the Short Oil Trade for a Win.

At 53:15 on the video is top of the hour with price falling and trade was under the key support resistance 54.59 and we needed it to hold under for staying in the trade short.

The price action here on the video is important to watch close here if you want to learn how to do this.

At 57:00 on video I explain that you could short again here, I didn’t, but price did come off and it would have been a decent short trade.

Trade did not stay under resistance at pivot so I closed the oil short trade for a win.

short, oil, trade, closed

Trade did not stay under resistance at pivot so I closed the oil short trade for a win.

If You Want a Win Rate 90%+ DayTrading Crude Oil – I Highly Recommend Listening to this Part of The Video – IT IS KEY.

I continue to comment on how the trade continues to set up discussing the technical areas to watch.

If you want to learn about specifically where your support and resistance areas are on the one middle model BE SURE TO WATCH THE VIDEO HERE (from 57:00 minutes on video forward).

If you watch the price action and my commentary you will see how precise the machines trade the one minute model – THIS WILL HELP YOU TIME YOUR ENTRIES AND WHEN TO CLOSE. VERY IMPORTANT.

Below is a screen shot of the oil trade alert feed – closing the trade for a win.

PS Remember to protect capital at all cost, cut losers fast and know that when you win you really win. Use the 1 min charting model for entry timing, cut losers fast and re-enter if you have to. Do that until you learn how to be a regular win-side trader.

Large Account Crude Oil Trading Alerts Profit Loss for January 2019.

January Oil Trade Profit / Loss Summary. The profit on our oil trading alerted trades is achieving excellent return for us and our alert clients.

After months of back testing on all time frames and our trading process is now getting locked in for machine trading and manually executed trading for both day trading and swing trading crude oil futures contracts. As such, we will start publishing profit loss reporting for the near term. This will be a series of documents from here forward.

About. We trade many accounts for many different reasons. We are coding software to machine trade on various rule-sets on various time-frames. We are also developing rule-sets (process driven trading) for our traders that have no intention of using our software, that prefer to execute trades manually.

Account Size, Trade Size. Below is the large account profit/loss and the follow up document to this is the small account for the same time period. The large account trades 10 contract size and the small account trades 1 contract size.

It is much more difficult to build a small crude oil futures trading account at 1 contract size than it is to trade and build on a larger 10 contract size account. The returns are significantly different. Studying the two profit/loss statements will help you understand why (small account statement will be released soon). Small accounts have to be traded differently.

Win Rate. Our win side percentage is now consistently well over 90%. Live alerted, recorded in the trading room and permanently logged in our library for members to learn our process of trade and verify, executed live in oil trading room with live voice broadcast and screen sharing with charting, and guidance discussion in the oil trading chat room server on Discord.

Returns. Is it possible to double accounts every 30 days? Review the trade alerts below and decide for yourself.

The Goal is to Provide a Winning Oil Trade Process Specific to Your Risk Threshold and Style. Currently, our focus is assisting our client members with an oil day-trading process and a swing trading process that is easy to learn, reproduce, executed manually that provides a high probability of success.

The day-trading method being used currently is on a one minute time frame chart model that also references the primary EPIC Oil Algorithm model that is a 30 minute chart model and also other time-frame models are used (such as 4 hour, daily, weekly, monthly etc) for consideration to trade size as it applies to key resistance and support areas in the trade of crude oil. Refer to our rule-set (to be published soon) and/or client reports for more detail.

The alerts below can be cross-referenced to the time of day in our oil trading discord chart server and much more learning / data gleaned. There is significant charting of models and guidance to the trades in that server. The learning trader has a massive resource to draw on by methodically studying and cross referencing the data from the alert feed, the server, videos and regular reporting circulars (that will now include rule-set modules).

Our Trade Alerts and Development of The Process is Transparent, Recorded, Time Stamped. The development of the rule-set(s), charting and guidance we provide our trading clients is transparently shared by our staff in our client private Discord oil chart server (the oil trading chat server is included in our oil trading bundle).

The trade alerts below are the whole of the alerts for the month. None have been removed. Various guidance is not included to keep the document as short as possible.

The actual trades are executed by our lead trader and/or software development staff live in our live trading room with live voice broadcast and screen share charting etc.

The oil trade alerts are deployed on a private member oil trade alert Twitter feed (the alerts are provided as a stand-alone service or as a part of the trading bundle with oil chat and weekly reporting).

The various oil trading services are detailed here (click).

Simple Risk Threshold Tool. The intent of producing a profit / loss over view (as you see below) is specifically for our clients to easily determine which method of trade (day trading, short term swing trades (intra day), swing trading, trend trading etc) best suits their trading style and goals.

As such, the profit / loss summary below uses rounded figures (derived with simplicity in mind) for each entry for ease of calculation for trading plan development. Our actual accounts include many more trades, below we only represent the trades we have alerted to our member base – we include below only that which affects the profit / loss of our member clients. Our accounts are private.

Our lead trader (our associate traders) will, at any given time, operate a variety of accounts representing compound trading, swing trading, momentum trading and testing for algorithms and more. This may or may not include cash / leverage accounts, commodity accounts, crypto exchange accounts, paper trade accounts and various algorithmic back testing and simulation accounts and shares the P&L and trade entries and exits in a transparent manner to ensure success (or lack therein) of the algorithms or trade accounts is for the purpose of trader and program development initiatives. https://compoundtrading.com/disclosure-disclaimer/

Instruments of Trade. All quotes on our trade alerts are referencing price on FX USOIL WTI and traded on continuous CL futures contracts unless otherwise noted. This is to provide our clients one charting source to refer to as there are many instruments available to trade crude oil. Our algorithm models are developed on and charted on FX USOIL WTI on Trading View (the working models).

Trade Alert Language. The letter “M” denotes a machine trade, otherwise the trade is by our lead trader manually executed. If HFT is noted in the alert, this type of trade (machine executed) can have many high frequency trades in and out of the position. We note this for clients so they are aware but we do not alert every high frequency trade as this would not help our clients on this type of platform. In the near future we will have a manner in which our clients will be able to view the machine trade high frequency trade on a digital platform live.

Trading Style of Lead Trader / Risk Threshold / Goals and Associated Returns. It is important for viewers to know that the lead trader is executing trades with the highest possible probability of win side trade with the lowest amount of risk. A review of the private oil member server discussion will quickly bring to light for any trader that anyone with a slightly higher risk threshold than our lead trader will see returns much higher. Review our feed and determine for yourself, but it is readily transparent that if a trader can accept a 10% loss for significantly higher return trades that much greater return than what you will review below is not just possible but probable – as long as you cut fast when a trade has broken down.

We are a Data Provider Primarily to Serious Retail traders and Private Trading Firms (Commercial Enterprise). We provide service to retail, commercial enterprise (private trading firms) and institutional members. The institutional and commercial enterprise clients primarily utilize our live trading room for their trade alerts. We also provide a direct alert feed for each member client at the commercial / institutional level that also includes per user licensing, training, modified charting structures, support services and more. Our retail clients use our Twitter feed, some use our Discord chat and some the live trading room. Most are subscribed to the bundle service (weekly reporting, oil trading room, Twitter feed as a bundle).

Our Trading Firm Structure. We sell data and we trade our own accounts, we do not trade a fund account of any type or manner or on behalf of anyone or any firm. We are not investment advisers, we are data providers. Many of our commercial enterprise clients do however trade on behalf of their clients or as a part of a fund arrangement. In short, they use our data (charting, alerts and soon machine learning software) to execute trades. We can refer you to any of these enterprises if you are sourcing this type of service.

Proprietary Data. Below we leave out critical direction, methods and process driven explanation as we are entering a new phase in our development. Soon (prior to end of February) we will be contracting our clients to non disclosure, non compete and other forms of contract relations to protect our membership and stake holders on whole.

Price Increases (non existing clients). Price increases will be announced before the end of February 2019. Existing member / client fees do not escalate as we develop our platform as long as the subscription does not lapse. It is our early adopter promise.

Time Zones. The time stamp on Twitter, in Discord, in Trading Room and / or on various screen shots will either be Eastern New York or one hour later (as our lead trader is currently in the Dominican Republic).

Is it possible to double accounts every 30 days – 60 days? Review the trade alerts below and decide for yourself.

Oil Trade Alert #1. High Frequency Machine Trading Alert.

Context for this trade is also on alert feed (not shown here to keep this document from being the size of a book), in the private discord oil chat room server, documented on the live trading room video (that provides more specific detail to each execution than the alert feed below that is missing execution data) and combined with lead trader alerts in alert # 2 below. The coding team advises the clients that HFT alerts are primarily for guidance because there are many trades that cannot be alerted because of the frequency (however, we are coding a digital platform for our clients to view these HFT machine executions live). So in short, until such a platform is developed and deployed the clients can use the guidance to get their trade entry and resistance / supports but not follow the frequency and exact trades. The guidance on the alert feed has been getting better as the month went on (January) and will get more specific as we move forward in time, but it will never be precise (the Twitter platform isn’t built for HFT alerting, the live trading room does work much better however). SO in short, our clients need to use HFT alerts as a guide for their own strategy. The lead trader alerts are easier for the Twitter feed alert subscriber to follow than the machine trades.

Also important to note below, the executions compiled below I have derived directly from the trade account (Jen), so there will be times that the actual execution will be a few ticks different than the alerted price on various media sources of our platform (Twitter, live trading room coverage, oil chat room server, etc). And finally, you will find in some instance data missing from the alert feed simply because the lead trader is busy, but any missing data can be verified on live video log and/or in discord chat record.

Crude Oil Day Trade Strategies (Live Video from Oil Trading Room with Alerts) for EIA, Market Open, Model Resistance, Time Cycles.

This video does not have any high flying trades, what it does have is important lessons for day trading crude oil and understanding how to use the oil trading models to your advantage. It also discusses in detail the time cycles and what to expect in trade action.

#oil #trading #strategies

Voice broadcast starts at 13:30 on oil trading room video.

January 30, 2019 Oil Trading Room Live Session Summary Notes.

13:30 premarket for regular market open comments about important resistance on EPIC Algorithm model and where trade should settle intra-day (at top of quad or mid quad) in advance of EIA petroleum report at 10:30.

14:30 comment to not buying the “pop” in price as I expected crude oil trade to calm in advance of EIA report timing. The resistance hidden pivot (yellow horizontal line on chart) is discussed.

15:00 Comments toward time cycle inflection on global markets (including crude oil) over next 3 or 4 days is discussed. We could inflect up or down on other side of time cycle peak. 55s is very possible (even a blow off in to 56 is possible) as an inflection up over next few days and a double extension up could happen. Time cycle in to mid May 2019 is the main pocket of trade sizing timing. See special report guidance in to May 2019 for crude oil.

Time cycle from end of Dec to now was difficult to trade with swing trade sizing but the next time cycle I can’t miss (the one starting in next few days in to mid May).

18:40 looking for whether price trade can get above pivot and structure a base for a trade on the model.

At 37:37 I comment to stagnant trade not being a surprise in to EIA and that I was looking for a slight short 20 to 30 points in to EIA. Trading 54.00 intra-day.

By 1:13:37 on oil trading room video you can see price did come off as expected.

At 1:17:30 EIA is in just under a minute. The model support and resistance is explained.

1:18:40 the one minute model has resistance in trade just over-head (chart not shown).

1:19:20 I announce the EIA petroleum report results and comment that generally trade should be bullish. At 1:20:00 price hits near top of quad.

For a number of weeks we’ve been targeting 55s Jan 31 to Feb 3 so this could be what finishes the trajectory on that time cycle peak.

Screen capture of oil trading room… “could be final move in to 55s if open is strong.”

1:21:40 I am long at 54.24 for a trade above 1 minute support and EPIC model support. Test size trade long crude oil.

Resistance 54.32 is noted as key resistance for the trade and the top of the quad and a comment to not getting to excited because of the various resistance points nearby.

1:23:27 we get a touch to the resistance. The test of resistance is commented to. 54.59 upside price target discussed if resistance is breached. Price did in fact hit that on the day later.

Resistance at mid point of trading box on the 1 minute model is discussed. At 1:26:00 on video I close the trade for a small gain at 54.29. Wasn’t interested in dealing with the resistance.

Remember at this point I am still holding DWT short from a number of days ago. The entry short was 13.57 and it hit 8s intra-day. Hoping for 7s before closing.

1:28:15 I show on the model the upside scenario and channel resistance being likely.

1:28:40 I discuss the recent sell off in crude oil in to 41s and our call to 55s in to this time cycle peak is discussed and why this area of trade is low risk reward. Also discussed is the type of trade action to expect in to the peak of the cycle in to Jan 31 – Feb 3.

Later in day I reiterate the time cycle peak in crude oil with price target guidance and visual representation of the time cycle and price target on oil chart model for our member strategy.

Time cycle conclusion near term on oil is 55.40 price target from previous reports last number of weeks (could spike in to 56.00) expiring on about Jan 31 – Feb 3. HOD was 54.90. We expect at min a small pull back. FX USOIL WTI
Likely close short DWT (long oil) soon for short term only.

THE TAKEAWAYS – Main Oil Trading Strategies Learned on Video:

Just because oil was bullish in to the market open and normally that would mean a buy trigger – it doesn’t always mean buy.

– In this instance it was Wednesday and the timing of EIA coming in one hour after open had me hold off my long trade because trade normally softens in advance of EIA. Bulls and bears stand-off. Also, there was a key pivot resistance on the oil chart model in play. For these reasons and more the trade set-up was not ideal for risk reward. It wasn’t a high probability long trade.

Know your resistance and support when trading and get out quick when resistance becomes real like with my EIA trade on this video.

Day Trading Crude Oil Strategy – Trading the Model Support and Resistance.

Monday we seen a one hundred point move in crude oil (a snap-back reversal intra-day) after a sell-off that started in futures Sunday night.

Below is a detailed description of how to trade the signals for this re-occurring pattern in crude oil intra-day trade.

Voice broadcast starts at 1:40 on video.

The Oil Day Trade Set-Up

Oil was selling off through the day. Intra day price is very near a lower price target and has bounced.

We didn’t catch the sell-off because our team took a 5 hour break in futures.

The trading box example is reviewed at 3:00. Trade action on the 1 minute model (trading box). Trading patterns are reviewed.

Price targets on the EPIC Algorithm Model are reviewed at 4:35 on video. This is an important part of the video to watch. The upper and lower price targets on the model are reviewed. Twelve hours later as I write both targets (up and down price targets) have been in fact hit. The range of the trading quads are reviewed.

Price targets on the EPIC Algorithm Model are reviewed at 4:35 on video. This is an important part of the video to watch.

The price targets in the quad area of the crude oil trading model are shown below. The price target to lower support is shown (trade hit near the price target early) and then bounced to upper price target and resistance on the model.

crude, oil, strategy, price, targets, model, chart

Crude oil trading strategy on model shows sell-off in to price target and reversal in to price target and other price targets.

At 6:20 on the video the 4 hour oil chart is reviewed. We were looking for a little lower on the day in this specific range, support was at 50.89 trading 51.57 on West Texas Oil. The timing at the time this video was recording looked short and it wasn’t likely it would hit (it didn’t). The symmetrical move to the upside and a sling shot move to the downside (opposite) is also reviewed as a scenario. In this down scenario that would bring price to down side of EPIC Algorithm quad trade is in (even lower to a point).

At 9:20 is the 4 hour oil test chart. Support 50.90 on West Texas or 51.10 on FX USOIL WTI.

At 10:20 on the video the weekly oil chart is reviewed. The weekly pivot at top and bottom of weekly candles previous are reviewed. Trade held the area intra-day and bounced.

At 19:00 on the video I review the one minute oil trading chart. A coil is in play which is usually a sign of an intra day turn. Price did in fact turn and run up to the top side quad resistance after this video ended through the rest of the afternoon.

Here, like the sell-off in overnight trade Sunday night, we didn’t catch the move because we were on break for the day. Two missed trades.

The four hour candle expiry is commented to also.

I explained that at the expiry of the 4 hour if it traded to upside that I would trade it, but I didn’t. Should have.
