Closed my position in $USRM when it was up near 57% on the day and on $BLKG when it was near 233% on the day. $BLKG low on day was 16 and high was 58 and I closed at 55 for a nice win – held the swing for a few weeks.

My $BABA call and a number of the other swing trading calls are continuing to be home runs, winning is good in this business.

It’s too bad our transcript in the room is not available for the first part of the day (my apologies but we’re learning the platform) because not only was most of the action for the day in the first hour but MarketMaven schooled us all on a morning momentum stock $ESPR – wow what a trade, three adds and closed near the top. Total schooling.

Also our traders were in natural gas $NG_F $UGAZ etc killing that and the other trades on intra and swing trading are all going well for our small group. 2017 has been a great year for the group, I am in the process of compiling the trade P/L of each trader (contacting them one at a time asking if they would be interested). Anyway, the feedback I am getting has been fantastic (in terms of YTD performance) and that has been obvious in the room – but I would like to document it if possible.

Premarket was all about $CURS tanking, $CTMX, $ESPR and a few others.

The Markets Looking Forward:

The markets to me look toppy (as I’ve noticed previous). So last weekend we produced some simple swing charting that keeps me level when looking at the markets (examples below). Simple charting I find grounds you to simple trades which in turn keeps you profitable in toppy or sideways markets. So I find the practice crucial even though our algorithmic modeling can cut up a chart on any time-frame and I can trade scalping like nobody’s business with them… but I have businesses etc and I can’t be a minute by minute trader (right now anyway). So keeping it simple helps me and many on our swing trading side of the platform really appreciate the simple view because they have day jobs or businesses etc.

Especially the market open with a fantastic trade by MarketMaven – total schooling (as I explained above) and Flash shared some of his Swings (which btw have been red hot). So I’m very disappointed to say the least. My excuse is we’re just learning the details of the platform and capturing the transcript has its details. Anyway, we’re on it. We’re also on getting these main traders in the room equipped to run charts and broadcast voice in their trades etc to build out a more robust daily trading video for people that review after market because they work or whatever… we’re on it, we’re getting there. Even though my holds are small in size I would like to start focusing on trading out of some of these, if not all.

All small to mid size holds in this order according to sizing – $ONTX, $DUST, $USRM, $XOM, $NE, $BLKG, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI.

Per recent;

$DUST I will close for a loss if Gold holds 1260 – sucks, but it was a relatively small position (to portfolio size) but I didn’t follow the golden rule… when a trade goes against your plan cut fast and I didn’t so I will likely pay the price. And I guess what has become the second golden rule… listen to the algos… they haven’t been wrong yet – so yes, I didn’t listen to my own invention ROSIE the Gold Algo (give Rosie a little plug there she deserves it lol). Embarrassing, especially because ROSIE nailed the bottom many weeks in advance of the bottom – all I had to do was listen and boom new house. Sad.

I do trade morning momo stocks, but I do avoid risk – so often I avoid the first 30 minutes (gap and go) and trade momentum stocks later in the day after the wash-out looking for a snap-back. Just prior to open and shortly after open I post momentum stocks to the trade chat room (and Twitter and Stocktwits if I have time).

Free scanners to find momentum stocks that you can easily review charts of for indicators that bring probability of your trade being successful up considerably. These are not useful for first 30 minute market open gap and go type plays (you need a good momentum scanner, level 2, and best to have hot-keys for the first 30 mins of gap and go trading)… but are very useful for intra day scalping and swing trading (start with trending stocks and then look at indicators intra for simple set-ups – study scan study scan study scan).

Below are the new stock picks but keep in mind that the market is at an important point. So we have in addition to this prepared two other lists, one if the market goes in to corrective mode and one if the market gets overheated again. Both of which are not included below but would be released immediately following a market decision up or down. So watch for that as things progress.

The charts below are focused on indicators that swing traders can rely on when markets are indecisive and sentiment isn’t easy to trend and swing (early 2017 sentiment swing trading was easy for example). So a little more attention to indicators such as MACD should be considered. Hopefully a clear sentiment re-emerges so our swings can be less hands on.

Mar 20 – The reason I have this on the list is because as a break-out stock it is about as clean as they come, however, break out stocks come with risk. So you have two options (and shorting right now isn’t one), you can either wait for it to get near a 20 MA test and go long when other indicators line up or open a short time-frame chart and trade it. I will be waiting for the 20 MA test.

March 20 – This is a trend play. The only thing you have to do is manage your entry point and risk. Wait for indicators to confirm next leg up about to start and take long entry. When MACD turns down on daily that is your exit. I really like this one, especially because MA’s are all on right side (aligned) and trend reversal is in place.

March 20 – This was looking like it was going to curl up last week and bounce but it failed. A great example of carefully watching a falling knife indicators before taking a long position. Use patience and when all indicators in play take a long.

March 20 – Looks like bottom may be in. It is trending up. Looking for 100 MA to cross down under 20 MA (pinching now) and price to trade above 20 MA for long. Be sure to wait for MACD to confirm also first.

March 20 – This isn’t easy to swing but is so hot it would be foolish to ignore, so discipline like with so many other plays in the current market is required. Seeing it hold 110.00 for a full day with indicators in line would put me in a long position.

March 20 – MACD is pinching and about to turn up, also waiting for price above 20 MA. This is a great looking chart and an argument could be made that a long position before everything lines up as I noted is sound. It’s a great looking chart because MACD is bottom (for clarity), so when it turns if all other indicators look good there should be room for a decent trade. Caution should be noted that now after having gone through a number of charts this evening the market is at a decision so any swing trades should be considered at length and stops should be tight IMO.

March 20 – Like so many of the charts this week, there is indecision. However, if the indicators line up this has excellent upside potential. The MACD pinching at the bottom is key IMO.

$RIG – MACD pinching, watching for it to turn up, Above 200 day but needs to trade above 20 MA for long.

$XLE – MACD pinching, watching for it to turn up, Needs 200 day and to trade above 20 MA for long or it becomes a short.

$SLX – MACD is pinching on the turn back up – waiting for it to turn up and 45.50 to hold for one day to confirm break out. Or, on downdraft I would look at a 100 MA long entry also.

$X – This one is riskier than most on this list, however, I am watching the MACD for a turn up for a possible long.

$AKS – MACD is turning up now, watching for price to trade above 20, 50, 100 that are clustered together. It is well over 200 MA.

Overview Perspective & Review of Markets, Chat Room, Algo Calls, Trades and Alerts:

Some of the plays in the room and swing trades lately include stock trades, options, ETF’s etc such as $DWT, $DFFN, $PLG, $NUGT, $AAPL, $FB, $GOOGL, $BABA, $NFLX, $OAK.

In general terms, the crew in the room has absolutely been winning since early January. Mathew has been all over his swings, options and daytrades. Our members in the room have been on the same winning train. You would have to review all transcripts because it has been varied but bottom line is they have been on right side of the market from Gold to the recent tech action and in options etc. Very, very solid group. A great learning experience for traders in the room also.

The swing trading side of our service has nailed I think every call and the members have been sharing with me their success stories – as I predicted before Christmas this has without been the most profitable part of the trading I have been involved with also since Christmas. My personal daytrading in the room has been mixed, I am up just shy of 20% for the year so far BUT as I have said has I listened to our Gold and Silver algorithm charting I would be way, way, way higher. But the swing trading service side has made up for that also. 

Specifically today for myself I was trying to get on right side of oil related trading, and I don’t want to come across wrong but truth is this category (and our other algorithmic charting models such as Gold, Silver, VIX, SPY, USD) are my mainstays – because we do have somewhat of an edge… data. Anyway, my point is oil since it entered its sideways action weeks back has been predictable but I haven’t traded it much because sideways doesn’t provide optimum margin (decent but not optimum). So I have been daytrading momentum stocks and swing trading and waiting for the set-ups in our standard algorithm models to be most advantageous (and again, the error was missing the Gold and Silver turn). Anyway, to the point ha, oil, oil, oil…. it lost a technical support and when that happens 99% of the time there is a trend change (if you check EPIC the Oil Algos record on trend changes you will see its near 100% call win rate). So the set-up was perfect, but something odd happened the last two days – the machines shut off (which should occur at the inflection) but then nothing happend – which is not how oil trades. Oil trades in a very very predictable way – decision to decision and at each you make bank. And even more so when the trend is at a break and changes. So bottom line is oil trade in a way it does in less than 1% of instances when an important technical is broken. So I took two inverse oil plays $DWT and the first I took a paper cut and second flat. And I see that the chart in overnight trade is repaired and oil is back in its sideways range. Ugh.

I’m still on the wrong side of that Gold / Miners / Silver trade and I have absolutely no excuse because I knew months in advance the bottom call from Rosie the Gold Algo and SuperNova Silver Algo – and I even doubled down on $DUST the other day. HOWEVER, Gold does have two very significant hurdles coming overhead that have low probabilities (as far as math is concerned) of price action clearing (with-out a pull back) – unless of course geopolitical reasons / sentiment change that.

Looking Forward:

I am of course watching our standards that apply to our algorithmic charting;

US Dollar $DXY is at important support so I will watch for a bounce (my personal bias).

$GOLD, Miners and $SILVER blew through resistance but have a series of very significant algorithmic chart modeling and classic charting decisions on deck soon so I will watch for a pull-back (my personal bias but I do know there is a significant possibility my bias is wrong and if so I will really hammer down on the move through resistance long if it occurs – AND I’ll be ready for the small and micro caps that would likely light fight in that scenario).

$OIL was broke and it magically repaired and is back in its multi-week range – trade the range until really broke.

$VIX is still near dead – records being set (as predicted long before Christmas).

$SPY continues in its range but I will be looking for a break to higher (my personal bias).

Still playing morning momos but the last 15 sessions follow-through momo (where I bank) has been difficult because volume goes poof.

Swing trading – continuing to bank on that side of our platform and don’t expect that to slow down in 2017 (until a change in market conditions of course).

Weekend webinars we are hosting to review all of our algorithmic modeling, swing trading and what we do in our trading room will be as good for me as it will be for attendees because it will be a refresh of all the charting and a good way to get ready for next weeks trading.

PS – I know we haven’t posted five or six trading results since Christmas and we’re getting there soon. We have it on our list along with… well you know… lots:)
