“Down Trending Resistance Trend Line Break-out Swing Trade”.

Below there are so many secrets to our swing trading success, in this article we look at the following areas of trading discipline for your trading plan:

  • Determining bias according to market time-cycles,
  • How to scan for swing trading set-ups,
  • How to determine price extensions for realistic price targets,
  • Support and resistance diagonal trend-lines, horizontal trend-lines, Fibonacci levels,
  • How to manage execution of the swing trade set-up,
  • How to manage trading stops, trade sizing, ebb and flow trade executions at support and resistance.

Part 2 of this analysis (below) is a Premium Member Only article and Part 1 can be found here;

Determining Time Cycle Bias for Your Trades.

Recently I wrote a few articles on the topic of time cycles in the markets using the Volatility (VIX) structured time cycles, this is a great place to start when determining first your bias of being bullish or bearish. In other words, should you be more focused on swing trades to the long or short side?

You can find Part 1 of the two part article here: How to Swing Trade Volatility $VIX Time-Cycles (UNLOCKED PT 1): Achieve Higher Gains in Stocks, Commodities, Indices, Crypto, Currencies and Theme Trades.

If the trajectory of market volatility is down (compressed) and you are more confident that volatility will be lower as you approach the next time cycle inflection then in most cases you would be bullish equities – this of course is just one example.

Alternatively you would be bias to the down-side for trading volatility so you may short $TVIX in this instance.

There are many ways to take advantage of the time cycles with various swing trades from Indices, Currencies, Crypto, Sectors, Stocks and more.

Just because the volatility is expected to rise or fall doesn’t mean however this should be the only determining factor when choosing theme trade set-ups, below is an example of just that with the ARCUS stock trade.

First, lets look at how stock scanning works.

How to Scan For Stock Swing Trading Set-Ups.

Good stock technical analysis knows before the news hits more often than not what the likely trade on each stock will be.

Technical analysis knows before the news hits because the stock will start to provide “tells” within the trade action of the stock and various technical points become clear.

So if you can know the TA of a specific stock better than most you have an advantage over other traders at all times because you can usually be ahead of the main part of the move.

Anyone, even the best fundamental traders would do better if they were also experts at technical analysis.

If the technical structure of the chart is suggesting a bullish move for example, you can then start to take small entries and build a position in expectation of a move.

The technical “tells” develop when insiders know something about upcoming news or even as geopolitical narratives are changing.

And then as you start to see specific technical trade patterns set-up in more and more equities you will find that this is a manifestation of the expert traders all beginning to bias their trades toward a theme usually within a sector, whether it be for a technical reason or a geo-political reason or perhaps some other fundamental or market sentiment reason.

If you get in “the pocket” right, you will find many set-ups during a period of time that will be almost identical and will provide excellent returns one after another.

This is what happened with our trading of the technical set-up in RCUS, many others were very similar during this time period in the markets and our returns increased rapidly.

I keep it simple and use Trading View for my scans.

On any given day, usually sometime after lunch I will open Trading View and click on the fire emblem on top right side of screen – this is your hot-lists of hot stocks on the day (see screen shot of my Trading View below). You can set the scanner in Trading View for various levels and parameters. I scan the running stocks with large gains, the losers and the OTC markets.

scanning, stocks, swing trading

I will open Trading View and click on the fire emblem on top right side of screen – this is hot stocks on day.

Then I simply open each chart (primarily scanning the hot stocks on the day) and I start with the weekly time-frame.

I’m looking for chart history or patterns of trade, chart memory or some semblance of chart history with some order. The simpler the chart patterns the better. Anyway, as you learn all the different set-ups this gets much easier and faster.

Every financial instrument I trade I make sure that it has a structure, some order is required or your trading edge is not increased.

When I find a chart set-up I like I open the chart and take a look at it on various time-frames and consider how to trade the stock, price targets and various support and resistance levels.

Then I look at things like incoming volume, company news, sector themes, geopolitical type things, look at insider buying or selling and various other research.

During the period of time we took the swing trade in ARCUS the trend-line resistance break-out trade was happening regularly and was providing excellent returns for 2 – 6x and even more in some cases wins.

When I Used the Scanner and Isolated the ARCUS Swing Trade Set-Up It Was Yet Another Trend-line Resistance Set-Up That Was Likely to Explode.

Below is the chart I found when scanning, it shows clearly the trend-line resistance set-up. The chart below is from one of the earlier swing trade alerts we sent out to members for this set-up. You can see the spike through the trend-line resistance (which occurred after the original alert).

You can clearly see the down-sloping trend-line in the chart on the alert.

This set-up was on high alert because this specific trade set-up was hitting one after another, if this was not the case I wouldn’t have been so keen on taking these trades.

you want to be where the wolf pack is

It is the theme that is important, you want to be where the wolf pack is, where all the other winning traders are. Just a winning set-up isn’t enough. Just a news event or a fundamental set up on its own is not the optimal scenario, you want to be where the flow is. This is critical.

Swing trade, alert, review, set-up

This chart swing trade strategy (setup) late 2019 early 2020 was found on scans regularly for big trader wins #swingtradealerts

And then as the trade progressed (after alerting the swing trade sometime earlier) the structure of trade was clear and it was just a matter of trading risk in ebb and flow (see chart below).

It is important to note that we cannot alert every pull back and add and trim, it isn’t possible, what we do is get our members started in a swing trade and then endeavor to alert the key trades (especially key areas of resistance) as it progresses. Our trader’s platform (automation for alerts) will solve this manpower issue, but really every trader should be planning their sizing and support and resistance adds and trims for profit based on their own account risk, risk tolerance, style and more. If you are just blindly following another trader this will not work for you.

Charting Price Extensions for Price Targets and Timing.

This can be more art than science and your price extensions and price targets may change as the price or timing of the stock price movements move along.

In the chart below you will see diagonal white arrows (3 of them). The angle is just a reflection of the down-slope (a mirror of the angle). The length of the price extension is simply a mirror of the down-slope trend from previous. So each of the 3 arrows trending up are equal in duration and price.

These are a simple way of taking a shot at the most probable price extensions.

One key note here is that often you will get 1.5 extensions or 3. Why I don’t know. If you look at the chart below that is how I determined my price target from 15.00 to 30.00 and in last weeks trade the price target was hit early.

You will also notice (in blue on chart) I drew in an Elliott Impulse Wave, but I do that more for fun to see if I can tell the exact future of the play, you can see in this instance I was close, but the bulls were more aggressive than I even thought they would be.

Swing trade chart with price extensions, price targets, timing, Fibonacci, support and resistance levels of trade.

Swing trade chart with price extensions, price targets, timing, Fibonacci, support and resistance levels of trade.

Support and resistance diagonal trend-lines, horizontal trend-lines, Fibonacci levels.

In the chart above the diagonal trend-lines (charted in advance of trend-lines being there) are determined by taking the down trending price action of prior and extending the the tops of each lower high as the stock traded down in trend. the angle of the trend-lines was simply determined by historical trade.

The horizontal trend-lines (thin grey ones on the chart) were determined by simply drawing horizontal rays at the highs in the previous downtrend then duplicating to create a grid. These are not that important, I use them to see if there is a grid to be had. Why? Because I’m looking for order or structure.

And then the Fibonacci levels are simply done using your Fibonacci retracement drawing tool between the key support (or bottom of chart) and the price extension top. And then you copy and paste it up for each key leg in possible future trade. I always chart the low and high as horizontal key support and run them straight across horizontally on the chart as grey or green as these represent key areas of support and resistance.

How to Swing Trade It – manage execution of the swing trade set-up: Starter positioning, trading stops, trade sizing, ebb and flow trade executions at support and resistance.

Usually, when price breaks the trend-line resistance to the upside this is your trigger to be at least on watch for your initial entry.

You need to determine how many entries you are prepared to take. Hopefully it is more than one and preferably up to 10. Here is why;

When price breaks out upside the trend-line you want to be able to take at least a starter right away because most traders will wait until price returns to the previous resistance now support for the test of support and then go.

Some will even wait for it to bounce and get higher than the previous candle. All methods are fine but if you’re in it to win it then I would suggest taking 1/10 size at each of those three triggers I just explained.

Why? Because sometimes price doesn’t come back to you. The stronger the theme, the stronger the market, the stronger the stock set-up the less chance it’s coming back to you and then you’re chasing it.

Now if you’re in 3/10 size or 30% size and your trade breaks down, you’re down on your trade but if you are winning 80% or better you can lose 10% 2 out of 10 times and win 30% or more 8 out of 10 times.

In the ARCUS example price never came back.

I look at every trade like a chess board, the more dot plots or entries and trims of profit the better, this is how we’re coding the 200 equities to trade under the machine trading program and how we’re coding the trader’s digital platform so members of our swing trade alerts will be able to see this real time. Until then, there is myself and three staff managing the numerous trades in various equities along with coding, alerts, newsletter publications and various other duties – hence the reason for coding automation.

Now, in the ARCUS example above you would have taken your starter 10 – 20% in size and it didn’t come back, what it did is it hit the first key resistance and then came back.

AT THAT RESISTANCE you need to trim 50% of your profit and then add to the trade at key supports in bits until it bounces and then continue with taking profits along the way at each key resistance.

Managing your trade size is critical. If you’re only going to be a one hit wonder, taking one entry for the win then you need to learn how to bring your charting down to a daytrading time frame so that you can execute your position on a lower time-frame of charting like a 5, 15 or 30 minute chart. I have an article coming on this discipline but in the meantime if you need to know how I do this ask me for a coaching session and I’ll show you.

Setting your stops is based on many things and this is why I don’t like publishing alerts with stops. This is determined by your experience (newer traders have to take more cuts because they don’t know what a prime set up is) so newer traders have to use hard stops religiously, I don’t because I know I can dot plot my way out of any trade as long as the stock isn’t destroyed by some black swan event.

In a black swan (market wide) I don’t worry because I’m in structured strong set-ups 90% of the time. If it’s not a strong set-up I’ll usually alert that or if its risky etc.

newer traders have to use hard stops religiously, I don’t because I know I can dot plot my way out of any trade as long as the stock isn’t destroyed by some black swan event

All of our trades we are sizing adds at support and trimming at resistance areas. There are many things that determine this also, such as market time cycles, market sentiment, sector sentiment, perhaps the technical set up is no longer being run by the bulls and many other factors.

False break-outs happen so you need to be prepared to take a loss, but when you get better at being able to determine key set-ups for all the reasons above and more you won’t be as concerned about that.

Other considerations technically speaking;

Most traders will wait for the current chart candle to close beyond the down-sloping trend-line resistance so they have a confirmed break-out, but remember, sometimes this won’t happen and a really bullish stock will just leave you in the dust.

Most traders will take their initial long starter position in the trade when the stock price has retraced back near or at the original trend-line, but again, this does not always happen and you can get left behind.

Most traders will set their stop just beyond failure of the trend-line but this can cause a trader’s account balance to be dwindled due to death by a thousand cuts.

The secret here is to not be most traders.

In this game if you are like most you will have like most (at best) returns, around 15% a year if you are lucky.

The traders that consistently post returns of 3, 4, 5 x or more per year are using a strategy that most do not.

What is that?

How did Wayne Gretzky explain how he played hockey? He had a knack at knowing where the puck was going to be so he went there.

“Skate to where the puck is going, not where it has been.”

— Wayne Gretzky

Same thing here.

Below is one of many of my rants on the subject, on my personal twitter feed;

If you get good at what I am describing above you will always know in advance (with high probability) when the price of the stock is going to move that you are trading, so manage the risk between where it is and where it is going like a chess board and you will see returns of 3, 4, 5 x or more per year.

Any questions email me anytime at [email protected].

Thanks

PART 1: How to Swing Trade Volatility $VIX Time-Cycles and Achieve Much Higher Gains (ROI) in Equities, Commodities, Indices, Crypto and Theme Trades.

In my opinion, this is the single most important skill a trader can possess, charting and trading time-cycle inflections within the markets.

Below is Part 1 of my new $STUDY guide series for swing traders and daytraders alike.

I am asked all the time why my Swing Trading win percentage is high, most assume I am a mystic of some sort because I always write about or share on social media charting or comments relating to market time-cycles. Seriously, people message me all the time with these sorts of assertions or questions.

In the technical analysis work I do in time-cycles there is nothing mystic about it at all. I don’t sit on a tripod, I don’t meditate (at least in the way you might imagine), I don’t look to the stars or special numbers. I use structural mathematical chart modeling and more often than not geometric charting structures built on Fibonacci levels.

Every financial instrument has a natural trading structure, patterns or as some refer to it as chart memory.

In nature all entities have a natural order or structure, this is the premise of Fibonacci. Financial instruments are natural in that they are traded on public markets by humans – this makes the instruments natural in structure.

However, there are times where specific events such as world calamities occur like COVID-19 Black Swan Event, the Iraq war, the 911 terrorist attack etc.

During these times the trading structure of financial instruments is more often than not divergent – or trading outside of its natural structure.

Central bank intervention (QE) can also cause divergent trade within a stock, commodity, indices etc as can company news (referring to publicly traded stocks). The smaller the company the more opportunity for divergent trade outside of the natural structure. Here the trade instrument or market liquidity becomes important.

If then random events cause the natural trade action of a stock (or whatever) to not be normal this is usually accompanied by increased volatility. A great example of this is the recent COVID-19 Black Swan Event and how it affected various markets around the world.

A specific example can be seen in the trade action of crude oil futures, and more specifically the trade volatility of crude oil, which is called or traded as symbol $OVX . Oil volatility (OVX) was trading in the 20’s (where we were accumulating based on time cycle work) and when the Black Swan event hit the price of $OVX Oil Volatility hit 334.00s, an incredible win. This was all based on time cycle work.

Below is a chart showing the trade action of OVX (Oil Volatility) during the COVID-19 Black Swan Event.

Crude Oil Volatility Index (OVX) chart showing oil trade volatility spiking from the 20s to 330s during black swan event.

Crude Oil Volatility Index (OVX) chart showing oil trade volatility spiking from the 20s to 330s during black swan event.

So if we know that specifically time cycle events (that normally come with increased volatility) occur within public markets then is it possible that knowing the structure of volatility (VIX) itself and related financial instruments such as oil volatility (OVX) can assist with a trader’s bias for trading various stocks, metals, currencies, crypto, indices and more?

The answer is yes. But it gets better.

Each instrument itself has its own natural order, or structure. The instrument structure say for example with Apple (AAPL) stock can then be charted on various time-frames from weekly, daily, hourly etc (we chart on thirteen time-frames). This provides a trader with the structure of timing for volatility and price trajectory on various time-frames, for investing, swing trading and daytrading.

And it even gets better (like the TV commercials haha) because when a trader understands how the volatility (VIX) and market time-cycles can line up and also with various themes (for example stock or sector themes) then things get really interesting for your ROI because now you have all structures of trade firing together in a symbiotic fashion. It becomes pure trading ecstasy.

This my friends is why our swing trading platform is so successful and why we structure our trade bias the way we do.

When the iron is hot we strike (time cycles) and when it cools we are taking profit and in deep $STUDY of the financial instrument structures and time cycles.

Another recent example is when the market bull seemed as though it would never stop, and four days before it stopped in a very volatile fashion we publicly announced that we were taking our profits and leaving our long positions behind, we cashed out. This, was done with time cycle work.

The tweet below explains (and shows the actual swing trade alerts) of some of our time cycle work,

I am explaining that I knew about the Black Swan event coming (called it Dec 19, 2019) and then on February 13, 2020 4 days before the market started to collapse we publicly announced we were taking our profits in the bull run home and closing longs.

And then even better yet, we sized in to shorting NIKE, WYNN and MASTERCARD for epic wins. This is where your profits are, in the time cycle inflections, everything else is $STUDY and positioning (managing size and getting your position and trajectory of trade right for the boom).

“Dec 19 call for pins to be pulled, last time cycle published, Feb 13 out of long positions 90% (publicly) then we hammered down short $NKE $WYNN $MA etc..

Why is this important?

For a victory lap? How bout truth.

#Timecycles, market instrument structure.

Natural law.”

So in part two of this article (it will be Premium member only) we will look specifically at Volatility (VIX) and how the time cycles within volatility work and then we’ll move to various stock theme swing trades we are looking at in this current time cycle along with also doing some articles over the coming days on the trade set-ups within this cycle for crypto, metals, indices, currencies and more.

This time period now is all about getting ready, understanding how time cycles work, starting to get our positioning in the various themes of trade and watching for the trajectories to line up between now and the peak of the next time cycle and the one after.

Also, before I forget, I am also going to be covering in articles for our members soon the need for a proper trading plan before entering your trade including how to size your trade, how to ebb and flow the support and resistance within the structure, sizing and trading the time cycle inflections of the instrument and more.

If you need help with a trade set-up email me at [email protected].

Thanks,

Curt

Part Six b) of the “Freedom Traders” Series:  Trading Set-ups. Video Explains Predictable Winning Process.

This post is the video / blog companion to “Trading Set-ups. How-To Develop a Systematic – Predictable Process. Part 6 a) “Freedom Traders” Series”. It is a $STUDY for Traders Endeavoring to Trade With a High Degree of Probability.

Introduction.

The video below will provide overview explanations of the various trade set-ups I use with different types of trading I do (Swing Trading, Day Trading and Algorithmic Model Trading).

I endeavor in this series of posts to first provide an overview of my trading systems and through subsequent posts I will break-out the details of each trade set-up I use.

Check back to the posts in this section (section 6 of the Freedom Traders series) because 6 a. and 6 b. will be updated regularly with new set-ups added to the overview lists and the subsequent posts in section 6 will have more and more specific trade set-up videos and blog posts included in the series.

The Purpose.

As explained in the introduction to this series (in Part 6 a), the purpose of this part of the series is to assist traders in developing their own predictable trading systems.

A large part of a successful trading plan is having a predictable trading system that you can rely on – a “rules-based trading process”.

Finding at least one trading system that will work the majority of the time, that is easy to use, fits your personality, is predictable and easily reproducible is key.

Trading Set-Ups Overview: Overview Video Number One.

This video touches on a number of chart set-ups / indicators / disciplines specific to day trading and swing trading and not so much algorithmic chart modeling. It is approximately 30 minutes in length and it provides a working foundation (overview) of the type of trading I execute.

You won’t find high flying ideas, hot new stocks of the week or some other high flying idea here.

You will however find systematic trading principles that will return 80% + win rates. Very predictable set-ups that can be duplicated with a high degree of success. Below the video are some itemized notes reflecting the content of the video.

Topics in Trade Set-ups Video 1:

  • Description of types of trading I do.
    • Day Trading, Swing Trading, Algorithmic Model Trading.

    • Confirming the bottom play with the early indicator of MACD.
    • I rely heavily on MACD for swing trading platform.
    • Stoch RSI started to rise at same time MACD started to signal bottom.
    • Stoch RSI helps time trade.
    • Increasing volume is critical.
    • SQZMOM confirmed bottom with trend up.
  • Trading Set-up # 2 – Bottom Play Prior to Breach of 200 MA on Daily Chart.

    • Enter on tight time-frame (after confirming your wide time-frames set-up).
    • Confirming your entry with “power”. Avoiding getting cut up with fast exits. Timing trades with power.
    • Price, Trigger, Power, Trade, Risk, Reward. PTPTRR. Being ready for the power trade with the moving average set-ups.
    • Legging in 20% at a time. Five leg principle in a move.
    • Knowing where your most likely resistance is in the move and exiting the trade.

Closing.

That concludes the video / blog portion of the trade set ups overview that accompanies “Trading Set-ups. How-To Develop a Systematic – Predictable Process. Part 6 a) “Freedom Traders” Series. Hopefully this series will assist you in building a rules based trading process.

As I mentioned at the outset, I will next post a series of articles to explain the fine details of each trade set-up I use. The videos will also detail many other indicators I use. I will also be explaining more in future about how our algorithmic model trading indicators are used.

Remember to check back to this specific post and part a because the list of indicators and the overview of each will grow with time.

As mentioned in Part A I also highly recommend taking in our regular trading webinars and most specifically the mid day trade and chart set-up reviews.

Repetition breads success. Repetition provides laser focused trading skills that only comes from practice, practice, practice.

Our team time in the mid day chart and trade set-ups is a training ground for success through repetition and fresh trade ideas.

MULTI-USERS: Institutional / commercial platform now available.

PATENT PHASE: I am now in patent application phase. Stay tuned for agreements concerning disclosure and use coming to members.

24 HOUR TRADE ROOM: My charting transitions from FX $USOIL $WTI to 24hr crude oil futures in 2017 and will have 24 hr crude oil trade room.

SOFTWARE: My algorithmic charting is going to developer coding phase early 2017 for our trader’s dashboard program. Please review my algorithm development process and about my oil algorithm story on our website www.compoundtrading.com and my oil algo charting posts on my Twitter feed and this blog.

HOW MY ALGORITHM WORKS: I am an algorithm in development. My math is based on traditional indicators (up to fifty at any given time each weighted on win ratio merit – all not shown on chart at any given time) – such as simple math calculations relating to price and volume, Fibonacci, simple pivots, moving averages, Gann, Schiff and various other charting, geometric and mathematical factors. I do not yet have AI or Geo Political integration – only math as it relates to traditional indicators with the primary goal being probabilities. I am not a high frequency or bot type algorithm – I am represented on and used on a traditional trading chart as one would normally use as a probability indicator. The goal is to provide our trader’s with an edge when triggering entries and exits on trades with instruments that rely on the price of crude oil (specifically FX: $USOIL $WTI and transitioning to futures in our new 24 hour oil trading room).

Below you will find my simplified view of levels that can be used on a traditional chart (both intra-day and as a swing trader or investor). This work, and subsequent trading, should be considered one decision at a time, “if this happens then this or this are my targets”… price – trigger – trade and so on. Questions to; [email protected], message our lead trader on Twitter, or message a lead trader privately in the trade room.

May 23, 2017

The new charting includes a change to color for the arrows that depict the channels. We have changed the color from orange arrows to purple as many were thinking the old channel arrows could be support or resistance. They are simply to note where the channels are.

The static charts show three potential channel trades. The one is a lower trending channel, which is the most natural for the machines because trade should have come off at the resistance (grey thick line) but did not and traded the last 24 hours or so in an anomaly pattern (you will notice the machines did not turn on and trade languished). This scenario is unlikely with OPEC on deck but would be the favored scenario if OPEC wasn’t manipulating trade scenarios.

The other scenario is a continued uptrending channel (essentially continuing the existing channel trend upward). This scenario is possible with OPEC on deck.

And the final scenario is another uptrending channel scenario that is just higher on the chart or more bullish and this would be the channel that OPEC will be attempting to manipulate.

Remember the significant cluster above that was noted in yesterday’s reporting – it is not noted on the current chart.

The algo targets are simply best guesses because trade is not in a natural state this week.

Current trade. Downward channel scenario (most natural but OPEC likely anomaly) EPIC the Oil Algorithm Chart May 23, 2017 438 AM FX $USOIL $WTI #OIL $USO $UWT $DWT $CL_F #OOTT #Algo

Second scenario. Trade continues in uptrend in current channel (less anomalies) EPIC the Oil Algorithm Chart May 23, 2017 443 AM FX $USOIL $WTI #OIL $USO $UWT $DWT $CL_F #OOTT #Algo

Third scenario – OPEC driven momentum in upward trending channel. EPIC the Oil Algorithm Chart May 23, 2017 446 AM FX $USOIL $WTI #OIL $USO $UWT $DWT $CL_F #OOTT #Algo

Considerations for trade on May 22, 2017:

OPEC is meeting this week. Be very cautious. There will be anomalies in the charting.

There is a long weekend coming. Holidays can create problems with the algorithms (agreement between). It can take a day or two either side of a holiday for the machines to sort out alpha.

At time of publication trade is right at support and resistance (grey line).

Not far above (thick blue line with blue arrow) is the start of the resistance area that seen oil come off very hard last time it tested this resistance cluster. Remember, the goal of OPEC is to get trade above the resistance area.

There is a choice on the chart for an upward trending channel and a downward trending channel. They are marked with orange arrows.

Here is the email sent to members earlier today;

Oil Traders

There is a complete report coming out around 2 am ET (approx), until then the following;

– The upper resistance of broad quadrant trading range is being tested (thick grey line). Remember there is a variance, a testing area of about .22 – .25 cents on upside of that resistance.

– When our traders short at resistance it is with tight stops. Especially when trade is in upward trending channel. Upward trending channel = highest probability trade is long at channel support and/or horizontal support. Highest probability is not short. Highest probability short is at top of channel or horizontal resistance in a downward trending channel. So when you trading against highest probability we keep our stops tight. When trading with probability we loosen up our stops a bit.

– The cluster we ran in to at prior highs is once again also approaching. Major resistance starts at 52.70.

– Between current quadrant resistance and the resistance cluster that starts around 52.70 we would not be surprised if market takes trade to underside of cluster (around 52.70 on FX $USOIL $WTI

– OPEC meetings are very likely to create any number of anomalies in trade. The complete report tonight will assist.

– The main resistance points of cluster are approximately on intra 52.70, 53.70, 54.80, 55.15, 59.78.

– When we short at res and trade fails we flip long and stay in it until next res is hit (in an uptrending channel). Your profit is being on right side of the trade in uptrending channels and downtrending channels. So profit is in long at bottom of channel in uptrending channel and short at resistance in downtrending channel. Contrary trades have to be with very tight stops.

– Trade is currently bullish – do not fight the trend.

– Full report out tonight.

Multi Week Trading Range for Swing Trading:

Note: Be careful with the prices you see in the purple boxes on the right of the chart – they do not line up on chart for price action (they are for indicators).

Trade the ranges noted above.

Diagonal Trend Lines:

Diagonal trend-lines (blue). Diagonal trend-lines are critical inflection points. Please review many of my recent posts so you can learn about how important these diagonal trend-lines are. If one is breached you can look to pull-back to next diagonal blue trend line about 90% of the time. Also pay attention to how thick the lines are – the thicker the line the more important because they represent extensions from previous time / price cycles.

Remember you can come in to the chat room to message the trader and REMEMBER I have posted a live chart link earlier in this post so if you can’t see the lines well on this chart above you can go to the live chart link and watch for member live algo chart links through-out the day in your email inbox!

The diagonal trend-lines are marked on main chart above.

Fibonacci Levels:

Watch the lines for support and resistance. Careful using them as traditional retracement levels with crude because the algo lines etc are more dominant / predictable. But the Fib lines are excellent indicators for intra-day trade support and resistance.

The Fibonacci lines are marked on main chart above.

Horizontal Trend-Lines (purple):

Horizontal trend-lines are not as important as the other indicators reviewed above, however, they do serve as important resistance and support intra-day for tight trading and they are important if thick (in other words they come from previous time / price cycles). WE STARTED TO REPRESENT THE REALLY IMPORTANT LINES IN YELLOW FYI FOR EASE. Refer to chart for current applicable horizontal trend-lines.

Horizontal trend-lines are marked on charts above.

Oil Time / Price Cycles:

Watch your email and / or my Twitter feed for time price cycles they may start to terminate.

Time / price cycles are the single most important indicator and my record calling them is near 100% – since inception seven months ago. The reason they are so important is that a trader does not want to be holding a crude oil instrument at termination of a time cycle if not absolutely sure if price will go up or down. A trade may choose to enter a large position in advance of a time price cycle termination IF THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY OF A DIRECTION IN PRICE and if the market is trading at a really important pivot area. In other words, if the market is trading at the bottom of the upward trending channel at a support (yellow lines) and we knew there was a significant probability of a time cycle about to terminate a trader may enter with a long position. The price really spikes or drops significantly when these important time cycles terminate.

The problem with time / price cycle terminations is they change from minute to minute (depending on where price is on the chart) so you have to be in the trade room to get the alert. Our lead traders will do everything they can in future to send these on SMS but we have to be careful because it can be difficult with so much going on in the room. The reason they (time cycles) change is because they are actually represented by or are geometric shapes in the chart – I know it sounds odd but I have (as I mentioned) hit these calls just shy of 100%. The oil political people know the same algorithmic modeling principles and they ALWAYS TIME THEIR BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS AROUND THE TIME PRICE CYCLE TERMINATIONS.

So if you can picture a triangle on the chart – and price is trading in the triangle – and price is going to come to the edge of the triangle and there is a significant support or resistance or an algo line terminating there too or a target (those type of indications)… then we know there is a high probability of a time and price change. In other words, it is where there are clusters of algorithm points that cross and when price is going to cross over that cluster is where they are. And these are represented on all the different time frames – the larger the time frame – the larger the time price cycle termination – the larger the spike or downdraft. This is where we establish our intra-day quadrants from for sniping trades (which we will put in to the room soon because it looks like the geo political rhetoric is over for a while making them more predictable). Difficult to explain in short. So we will do our best to SMS alert these in future.

Also, the real large or important time / price cycle terminations we know far in advance and they can be put in these newsletters.

If you review my Epic the Oil Algo Twitter feed, my blog posts and my story on our website you will get a feel for how accurate these calls are.

Alpha Algo Trading Trend-Lines (Primary – Red dotted lines. Secondary – White dotted lines):

To determine which algo line is most alpha (or probable) intra day, it is the nearest line to price action. This can also help you determine the trend of trade. If the algo line is trending up the price will follow it up until price is tested at an algorithm indicator (the main tests are diagonal trendlines, horizontal trendlines, time / price cycles etc – as I have shared with you). This is why it is important to watch all the lines because they are all support and resistance. To keep it simple trade the range (yellow lines) as I’ve mentioned but keep an eye on these indicators.

Current Alpha Algo Targets (Red circles):

Your closest target that crude is trending toward is always the most probable. Crude is currently trending toward a target (red circles on chart) Then, your second most probable is the one that is up or down trend depending on whether general price is in an upward or downtrend for the most recent week or so and what your other indicators look like (such as the MA’s I explained above).

The other way to determine which targets are in play is actually quite simple, you will notice that crude trades between the channel lines up and down and up and down and there are various support and resistance along the way. If it hits a target at the top of the channel you can bet most times (unless the next day like today) that the next target hit will be at the bottom of the channel.

Wait for the price to trend toward a target and take your position and watch as price gets closer and closer to the target. Remember, that the machines trade from decision to decision – or in other words from support to next resistance or resistance to next support or when the times come each week on Tuesday Wednesday and Friday they will trend toward the target that market price action determines they go to.

Our lead trader will explain more in the room and do not hesitate to ask our lead trader in the room by private message or on twitter to explain intra day decisions.

Oil Intra-Day Algo Trading Quadrants (white dotted lines):

Intra-day trading quadrants are available on all time – cycles and all of them are not detailed on this charting. The charting above represents the 30 minute trading quadrants. If you require tighter time-frames please email us and we will update charting for the time cycle you are looking for.

Trading quadrants are simply support and resistance lines that can assist your intra-day trading – they are not alpha or primary support and resistance by any measure. Price action does however typically move more assertively when leaving a trading quadrant.

Indicator Methods:

As explained above, my algorithm is a consideration of up to fifty traditional indicators at any one time – each one given its own weight in accordance to its accuracy (win rate). This is how we establish the probability of specific targets hitting (we call them alpha algo targets).

Alpha Algo Targets, Algo Trend-lines, Algo Timing, Quadrants for Intra Snipes:

Algo targets are the red circles – they correspond with important times each week in oil reporting land. Tuesday 4:30 PM, Wednesday 10:30 AM and Friday at 1:00 PM. The red dotted diagonal lines are the algo trend-lines. And the vertical dotted (red or green) are marking the important times each week. You will find that the price of crude will hit one of the alpha algo targets about 90% of the time. In the absence of market direction the machines take price to the next algo line and/or target. Understanding how the price of crude reacts to the algos and how they move price from target to target is critical for intra-day and swing trading crude oil and associated instruments.

You will notice that price action of crude will use these algo trend-lines and act as support and resistance, and that price also often violently moves when an alpha algo line is breached either upward or downward.

We cover this in much more detail in the member updates, trading room. A review of my Twitter feed and previous blog posts will help you understand the relation of these indicators. We will start posting video blogs (for my subscribers) on YouTube (in addition to my daily blog posts) for swing traders that work during regular trading hours.

Also… we will cover how to establish algo trend-lines and price targets future forward (as you have seen me do on my Twitter feed for some time now).

Conclusion:

See you in the live trade room! And again, if you struggle to know how to use these indicators as a trader’s edge, it is recommended (if you have earnestly reviewed all of our documentation first) that you obtain private coaching prior to trading a real account with real money – we recommend you use a paper trading account at first.

You can also send specific questions to our email inbox at [email protected] – if you do this be sure to ask a specific question so it can be answered specifically. When the 24 hour oil trading room opens you will have ample opportunity in that 24 hour room to ask questions also.

Watch my EPIC the Oil Algo Twitter feed for intra day notices and your email in box for member only material intra day also.

S&P 500 $SPY Trade Update Monday May 22, 2017 $ES_F ($SPXL, $SPXS) Algorithmic Charting Observations

Good morning! My name is Freedom the $SPY Algo. Welcome to my new S&P trade report for Compound Trading.

Below is the first algorithmic quadrant chart you will see of many over the coming days. The horizontal support and resistance lines are standard Fibonacci that you can trade against and the diagonals are quadrant support and resistance – the thicker the line the better the support or resistance.

The next report will refine these and price targets. For now, we will see how this model performs. This is by the way the model our traders have been using for months and it has worked. I will add much more detail to it as this week progresses.

Trading Range Extensions (wide time-frame price targets – the main turns). In short, we have been publishing price predicts for the main price extensions on $SPY trade and for about four months now we have been hitting them. The price extension price targets are the most important. If you can catch the main turns in trade then this of course is where the money is. So that was the primary priority and it has proven out. Reviewing historical reports this is represented by the red dotted line extensions and was also in writing (the price predicts of trading extensions).

Trading Quadrants (shorter time frame trading ranges). The second priority was to lock in the natural trading range on shorter time frames, we call these quadrants and they have been represented on the charts as geometric shapes (boxes, or as some refer to them as diamonds). These also have proven out.

Trading Time Cycles / Main Resistance Areas (clusters of resistance). You would have to go back in the historical reporting some time to confirm that our algorithm has actually called these consistently, but it has. The more recent is the area $SPY is struggling to breach right now and the significant one prior to Christmas last year. The purpose of knowing where the primary time cycle resistance areas (or clusters) are, is for traders to know where and when it is bets to let off the gas to speak.

Specific Time / Price Targets. This area of work in the algorithm we are still working with (in development) and as such you will know begin to see our best guess of specific time / price targets weekly. You would have to review EPIC the Oil Algo posts or Twitter feed to understand what I am referring to (they are represented on EPIC’s feed as red circles and EPIC has been undeniably accurate). Now, IT IS CRITICAL to know that we may never be able to lock in these “cyrstal ball” specific time and price targets with $SPY like we have with EPIC. But that doesn’t make the work we are doing ineffective, actually quite the opposite.

Good luck with your trades and look forward to seeing you in the room!

EPIC the Oil Algorithm Chart Report Monday May 22, 2017 (Member Edition). FX: $USOIL $WTIC – $USO $CL_F $UWT $DWT $UCO $SCO $ERX $ERY $GUSH $DRIP

Welcome to my new FX: $USOIL $WTI oil trade report. My name is EPIC the Oil Algo and I am one of six Algorithmic Charting services in development at Compound Trading.

NOTICES:

This Report will include recent emails sent to members and recent reports because there are many new members and many won’t have had access to especially those emails for context.

The algorithm took an unusual amount of time to lock in tonight – there is a possible divergence of up to .12 cents on any horizontal support and resistance and any diagonal lines (basically any line on the chart). It happens sometimes, it is very unusual, but it does occur. Either way, it will be locked in over the next day or two. Until it is re-locked in you will find some of the lines to be sloppy and not match up.

When we estimate a time of publishing, be cautious to not plan your life around our ETA. The algorithm can take between 1 hour and 12 hours to lock in and we do not know how long it will take before starting each night.

HOW MY ALGORITHM WORKS: I am an algorithm in development.

Here is the email sent to members earlier today;

Oil Traders

There is a complete report coming out around 2 am ET (approx), until then the following;

Trade notes for May 18, 2017

Above is the EPIC midday review on video. For today’s report please review. It explains current trade (in context with more detail below from recent posts and emails).

Below I have pasted some recent emails to members for context for new members.

Also below I have left recent posts in for context.

Bottom line is you have main support and resistance and thick horizontal grey lines – our traders primarily trade short and long off those.

On a tighter timeframe (in between grey lines) our traders use the channels as points to short and long – they are represent as orange dotted lines.

And on even tighter timeframes our traders use the horizontal fib lines etc on the charting as support and resistance.

The algo targets in red circles are simply an added signal. Remember FRIDAY TARGETS are not predictable relative to Tuesday and Wednesday’s.

The other signal that is important are the time price clusters that are significant, however, there is not one that is significant near current trade.

The levels are discussed in recent posts for support and resistance areas.

Below is the other recent data.

Tue, May 16, 2017 7:16 pm

Evening,

A quick intra report for crude trade.

Trade returned to the previous channel as we expected it would. There is now a choice for an upward trending channel and a downward trending channel. The two are marked with thick dotted orange lines. Be sure you understand the channels and if not ask. They are support and resistance.

Speaking of support, not far below is your most important support (the thick grey horizontal line) and the yellow line right under it (review last 3 or 4 posts if you do not know). That is your primary support and the channel walls (orange are secondary to that). Our traders will trade off both or either.

Wed morning 10:30 report will be key to whether oil trade holds the lower support (grey line) or does not. If it does not hold the grey line and yellow line our traders will be short. If it does our traders will be long with a short term bias toward down.

Also very important, Wednesday mid day chart review time in the trading room will be dedicated to EPIC the Oil algorithm and associated trade – it will be a detailed webinar. If you cannot be in the room the trading room is recorded daily and you can get the raw footage on the YouTube channel for the day and review.

Also, the lower target was hit dead center today.

Good morning

An intra week update and complete report this evening:

Attached are three static charts and below the updated live chart link:

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/USOIL/EztCXIEQ-New-channel-if-trade-stays-in-new-range-EPIC-the-Oil-Algorithm/

The attached static charts show the new upward trading channel if trade stays in new range (and upward). Also shown is the previous upward trending channel if trade returns to that range. New targets are shown for the new upward trading channel if channel is confirmed. Upper resistance that our traders will short at is 50.98 the grey line. Intra day our traders will trade the channel trade is in.

Any questions, as usual let me know.

Tuesday 4:30 and Wednesday 10:30 will tell us everything we need to know going forward at least near term.

Thanks

Curtis

Crude is above light resistance but still below 200 MA and under significant resistance.

Notes that Correspond With Static Charts Below

Trade now has the price above FX $USOIL $WTI the significant resistance (thick grey lines) in the 47.60 area previously reported.

At time of writing trade has also broke to the upside of the uptrending channel (uptrending channel is marked with orange arrows) and is testing a horizontal Fibonacci resistance at 48.86.

Saudi Arabia and Russia agree to oil output cuts until March 2018 in overnight news.

Saudi Arabia, Russia agree oil output cuts until March 2018

The next significant resistance (thick grey horizontal lines) above is in the area of 51.00 and the next broad quadrant below at 44.15. All values have a +- of about .25.

The orange dotted uptrending lines in the more uppper range are early prospective upward trending channel lines should trade continue upside of current channel. They can be considered extremely soft support and resistance in upward channel trade until confirmed.

The algo targets (if trade is to upside of existing channel) will have to be reset when trade is confirmed in new channel.

OPEC continues to release news so our traders will simply trade between support and resistance lines (horizontal) until a new channel is determined.

There is a conventional chart also lower below in report of crude oil testing 200 MA and up over simple trendline resistance.

The cluster of resistance that we previously reported on that sent oil tumbling from recent highs is also overhead should oil trade to the top of this current range at 51.00 (we are currently running the algorithm model on this cluster and it should be ready within a few hours – it in the range of 53.00 approximately. This cluster is the most significant cluster of resistance in recent time – going back at minimum ten years of trade.

S&P 500 $SPY Trade Update Thursday May 18, 2017 $ES_F ($SPXL, $SPXS) Algorithmic Charting Observations

Good morning! My name is Freedom the $SPY Algo. Welcome to my new S&P trade report for Compound Trading.

Because trade came off so aggressively on Wednesday, we are going to set over any algorithmic modeling until Thurs night because anomolies are not friendly to charting models. So below are some items to watch for in Thursday trade on conventional charting and below that is an updated quadrant and Fib retracement chart.

This delay won’t put the release of the full model publication planned for Monday back at all – it will be released this Monday.

Fibonacci Charting

Yesterday, we produced the first step in the new charting model that will be complete by Monday. If you missed the report yesterday please read it here first: Freedom S&P 500 $SPY (Complete Algorithm Charting Process Commences) Tues May 16 $ES_F $SPXL, $SPXS

With algorithmic modeling and associated trading, we first “root” our trading in simple charts (as with the report yesterday) and then we move on to Fibonacci related work. Much of what we do with Fib work is conventional, but some you will find is outside convention.

Below is the first 60 minute time frame trading quadrant set in to the chart. The diagonal dotted lines will act as intra-day support and resistance when trading interacts. The red circle is the technical time and price target – but it is only a target – price will often fail the target – but more often than not trend toward it. The upper resistance decision on this chart is in the 241.33 – .50 range as with previous price extension pricing.

These “quadrants” can be used on various time frames and will be invaluable when you learn how to use them for trade on different time frames.

Also the horizontal Fib lines naturally act as support and resistance.

Our oil algo uses these quadrants primarily on the 30 minute chart.

So in the next report we will start to add in these quadrants on shorter time frames and build out the quadrant map so to speak. Then the next report after that we will work with various price extensions, algo targets, intra-day trading quadrants and time / price cycles.

If you review an EPIC the OIL chart you will see these quadrants in action.

For now, I am going to leave it here.

I have left recent report notes and charts below also for context.

New Charting

Well, it has been a long road, but we have finally confidently locked in the algorithmic model charting for $SPY. an exciting day for us in the lab.

If you have been a member for a while you will have known the basics of the process, if not, you may want to review at least the last ten or so posts (if you do not have the passwords you can request from Sartaj by email at [email protected]). It isn’t required to review the historical of course, just something that is available to you.

So what does this mean going forward?

Going forward we will be representing the work we do over the next three or four days in a build-out (a release process) of the most basic simple charting to most extensive algorithmic model charting we have now (based on the model completed) – representing the points / signals I explained above.

This is exactly the same process that EPIC the Oil Algo undertook when we were preparing / training our traders to use the model. This is the process for us to train our traders with $SPY also and so you will also be the recipients of that process over the next few days.

So in short, your report today will start with the most basic charting and over the next few days completing at latest Monday you will have the full model of charting and it will be very similar to EPIC the Oil Algorithm’s charting.

If over the next few days you have any questions (or going forward of course), please let us know by Twitter DM or email [email protected]. And also quick, with the new model building out you will of course see the monthly subscription rate rise over time (appropriate to work involved for maintenance of model charting) but existing members are grandfathered without increase if subscription does not lapse).

Reporting Rotation, Futures, $ES_F, $VIX, 24 Hour Trading Room

The next steps (after the full model is published prior to Monday) are as follows’

  • The rotations for $SPY newsletters will increase to multiple times per week (updating the model).
  • The $VIX newsletter will be updated, published, and the reporting rotations will also increase although not to the same frequency and not to the same model build-out level as Oil or SPY. It is still in early development.
  • New charting will be release in 2017 representing future / $ES_F and as with Oil there will be a 24 hour trading room. Do not expect this until later in 2017.

So Let’s Start the Process of the Chart Build-Out

This process will take three or four days of reporting. It will start with the most basic conventional charting for our traders to be “grounded in” and will culminate in the full model. Even when the full model is published, our reporting will still often include as part of the reporting the basic charting for our trader’s reference.

So bear with us for just a few days here…

Today we are going to publish the simple charts, next day the Fibonacci based charts and then the next two days roll-out the algorithmic model charting with signals on charts as explained above.

Notes with respect to $SPY Price Extensions and Targets

Recent Trade – $SPY price action has been hitting our upside price extension targets for months now. The chart above includes the price extension targets for upward and downward trade.

Trading just the price extension targets we have provided on the upside and downside has proven a very profitable signal.

Also of importance, in addition to trading the price extensions, our traders have found the Fib resistance and support on the chart and the algorithmic quadrants excellent signals intra-day for support and resistance.

Fibonacci – The Fibonacci levels have been predictable so we are leaving them as they are.

Trading Quadrants – The trading quadrants have become predictable – we are leaving them as they are.

Symmetry Extension Targets – The extension price targets we have published the last number of months now have hit the price targets to upside and downside near perfect so they are becoming very predictable! Trade the outside ranges for optimum return and predictability.

Most probable downside price target if trade is in a downtrend is in 233.33 area before a decision.

Most probable upside price target if trade is in an uptrend is in 241.50 area before a decision.

Time / Price Cycles – There are currently no significant cycles in the charting.

Trading Bias – Although the warning below is still in place, our traders do have considerable high expectations that previous highs will be tested and / or taken out soon. Unless of course a geo political situation arises to derail the market.

Warning per recent reports;

This is a considerable warning because price has not traded above previous high since we alerted members to this divergence in the algorithm: Current bias is to the upside target, however, there is a divergence in the upward trade extension makes the target a double topped target, which is divergent from recent trade, which does cause us to pause.

Good luck with your trades and look forward to seeing you in the room!

Careful with that 50 MA crosses the 100 MA – you want those opposite to be bullish. Careful price stays above them also. Price above 200 MA. Stoch RSI at top so it would make sense for it to come off soon.
