Market Outlook

Momentum Stocks (Market Open and Intra-Day):

I do trade morning momo stocks (at times), but I do avoid risk – so often I avoid the first 30 minutes (gap and go) and trade momentum stocks later in the day after the wash-out looking for a snap-back. Just prior to open and shortly after open I post momentum stocks to the trade chat room (and Twitter if I have time).

Some of my Favorite Set-Ups:

(1) Momentum Stock Wash-Outs for Snap Back, (2) Bad News Wash-outs on Stocks with High Institutional Ownership, (3) Getting on the Right Side of a Trend Change and (4) Our Algorithm Set-Ups.

The momentum stocks (from previous days and morning trade) I continue to watch through the day for indicators that allow a trade.

From last night’s trading results:

There are a tonne of set-ups in the market right now. Bios coiled hard this morning. Emerging markets, $EEM, $LPCN, $DVAX, $DNAI and my buddy’s $SRPT and others are setting up. Dips on $GOLD are being bought vs.selling the rips (so this by default plays in to $SILVER) $NATGAS is getting close to resistance. $USOIL $WTI is dialed in with EPIC the Oil Algo perfect so machines have been on since Nov 30 break-out (so this makes trading oil related easier for me) and I’m not sure what $SPY will do.

Regular Trades:

S & P 500: $SPY ($SPXL, $SPXS)

Outlook: As pre previous…. My bias is still to new highs but I am looking at a pull-back Christmas / Early 2017.

My Trading Plan: Right now I am trading $XIV instead of $SPXL or $SPXS. I do this because we are in a trend of crushed volatility. Now, when that changes and volatility starts to rise again (even if $SPY is rising at the same time) then I’ll flip over to trading $SPXL and $SPXS instead of $XIV.

Volatility: $VIX ($TVIX, $UVXY, $XIV)

Outlook: Looking for an entry a full levels down 12.2 long.

Watch for volatility to rise on a trend – even if $SPY is still rising – volatility is a great indicator for what’s around the corner.

My Trading Plan for Volatility: I will likely follow that trend with $TVIX $UVXY $XIV buys at range pivots / pending price action, volume and other geo events.

Currencies and Other Global Markets: $DXY US Dollar Index ($UUP US Dollar Bull, $UDN British Pound, $USD/JPY, $FXY Japanese Yen Trust, $CNY China, $TZA, $SMK / $EWW Mexico Capped ETF)

US Dollar may come off in to downtrend soon – seeing some areas of global markets that are becoming interesting here. Watch emerging markets close too!

Pre previous: Inflection point. No clear direction. $USD/JPY not backing off yet. Our $DXY algo had 100.50 as a PT so I’m watching. Lots of fundamentals at work here and geo.

My Trading Plan for Currencies / Global Markets:

Gold: $GLD ($UGLD, $DGLD). Miners: $GDX ($NUGT, $DUST, $JDST, $JNUG)

Waiting for a long trade confirmation. I am currently in $JDST which wasn’t the best idea considering the are buying the dips in Gold and selling the rips (per post market blog post yesterday).

My Trading Plan for Gold:

Per previous;

I haven’t started to take trades yet because I am waiting for “price – trigger – trade” set-ups. I will start chewing around the edges of stocks like $NUGT and $GLD likely – very possibly today. The idea is to get on the right side of the trade and trend.

Other equities I like for Gold Trade: $AUMN (penny stock)

Silver: $SLV ($USLV, $DSLV)

Same as Gold – we’re waiting for a decision from market so we can get algo targets.

My Plan for Trading Silver:

Per previous;

Same as Gold, I’m waiting for the “price – trigger – trade” set-ups… I am going to start chewing around the edges of stocks when set-up confirms like $USLV and $SLV attempting to get on right side of trend trade.

Other equities I like for Silver trade: $AUMN (penny stock)

Crude Oil FX: $USOIL $WTI ($UWTI, $DWTI, $GUSH, $ERX, $DRIP, $ERY, $USO, $UCO, $SCO, $CL_F)

Crude is trading within its range. Until it breaks its recent highs it isn’t bullish and until it breaks its recent lows – same thing. So I will trade the range if at all.

Outlook: Per previous – trading range.

Trading Plan: Oil equities.

Other Equities I like for Oil or Energy Trade: Tape / Chart – $ETE, $RIG. High Short Interest – $CRC, $EPE, $WLL, $RES, $JONE, $AREX, $REN, $CLR, $HP, $ATW, $SGY. Fundamentals: $EOG, Pipelines – $XLE: $HEP, $SXE, $KMI, $DPM, $TGS, $ENB, $EEP, $PTRC, $HGT

Natural Gas: ($UGAZ, $DGAZ):

I put out a tweet yesterday and mentioned in room it was getting in to resistance and it has come off a bit here – it will be interesting to see if it gets up and over.

Free scanners to find momentum stocks that you can easily review charts of for indicators that bring probability of your trade being successful up considerably. These are not useful for first 30 minute market open gap and go type plays (you need a good momentum scanner, level 2, and best to have hot-keys for the first 30 mins of gap and go trading)… but are very useful for intra day scalping (start with trending stocks and then look at indicators intra for simple set-ups – study scan study scan study scan).

Review of my Chat Room Stock Day Trades and Alerts for Monday Dec 5. $JDST, $AGIO, $SGY, $JUNO, $CBMX, $GOLD, $USDJPY, $USOIL, $WTIC and more.

Intro:

Time stamped entries (in permanent archive) copied to this blog in italics (below) are direct live log chat from chat trade room as they occurred (random chat from myself not applicable or other misc chat deleted). Chat trade room is also video recorded daily for trade archive.

In addition to chat, this trade-room has live voice broadcast (that covers in detail what indicators I am looking for in and out off each trade) and has live chart screen sharing right from my monitor to the room with all indicators I am looking at.

Overview Perspective & Review of Chart Room, Trades and Alerts:

Monday morning I sold off my $SGY swing position from last Thursday average 7.09 cost basis at 8.295 for a tidy profit (it was a larger swing entry). I also scalped $AGIO wash-out that I expected a snap back in. I took a late day $JDST long entry (which is tough because they’re buying the dips in $GOLD now but I see $USD/JPY not quite done – we’ll see – likely overtrading) and I am still holding $JUNO and $CBMX.

Primary Lessons That May Help Your Trades:

$SGY I sold a tad early in the morning run-rup… but a profit is just that. My original entries did not give me a 4 to 1 minimum risk reward. They are starting to buy the $GOLD dips instead of selling the rips so my $JDST risk-reward potential IS NOT 4 to 1 which breaks a primary trading rule for sure.

As I said, was waiting for 3.10 with back test. I was also waiting for it to get up over 200 on 1 week and back test. Looks like it could be a break-out!

Welcome to the Thursday Wall Street trading short day session! There isn’t much new here – we’ve been unusually busy with algos! When free time allows today we will be reviewing algos in the room etc.

Algo work – EPIC is going to Patent this Monday – expect significant price increases this weekend. We will grandfather existing subs – yes. EPIC also is going to have 24 hour room of his own and futures trading starting sometime Jan. GOLD and SILVER algo price increases this weekend also. DXY SPY VIX beta algos published over coming days not weeks.

Outlook: My bias is still to new highs – I warned Friday of a pull-back and it could be here and Monday morning and it came. I’m looking for a long entry soon. I’m thinking we don’t see it cool again until near Christmas – we’ll see.

Volatility: $VIX ($TVIX, $UVXY, $XIV)

Outlook: As warned Friday volatility was getting cheap and a pop was imminent and we got it. I expect volatility to get crushed between now and Christmas. Again, we’ll see.

Watch for volatility to rise on a trend – even if $SPY is still rising – volatility is a great indicator for what’s around the corner.

$UUP (long US Dollar) seems to be a bit extended obviously, so this opportunity is a tad long in the tooth if you ask me – same with $USD/JPY. So for $GOLD and the miners $GDX watch the $USD/JPY closedly.

Gold: $GLD ($UGLD, $DGLD). Miners: $GDX ($NUGT, $DUST, $JDST, $JNUG)

Review Rosie the Gold Algo posts. We’re waiting for a market direction and then algo will calculate targets.

Regular Trades:

S & P 500: $SPY ($SPXL, $SPXS)

Outlook: My bias is still to new highs – I warned Friday of a pull-back and it could be here and Monday morning and it came.

$SPY Intra Day Trading – White arrow was alert on blog of imminent pull back.

Volatility: $VIX ($TVIX, $UVXY, $XIV)

Outlook: As warned Friday volatility was getting cheap and a pop was imminent and we got it.

$VIX White arrow was blog post warning of imminent elevation in price.

I expect volatility at market inflection points and then continue to get crushed. Watch for volatility to rise on a trend – even if $SPY is still rising – volatility is a great indicator for what’s around the corner.

My Trading Plan for Volatility: I will likely follow that trend with $TVIX $UVXY $XIV buys at range pivots / pending price action, volume and other geo events.

Currencies and Other Global Markets: $DXY US Dollar Index ($UUP US Dollar Bull, $UDN British Pound, $USD/JPY, $FXY Japanese Yen Trust, $CNY China, $TZA, $SMK / $EWW Mexico Capped ETF)

Outlook: From yesterday blog

“As I warned last week “Be careful here now because the $USD/JPY chart (although not broken and still bullish) is showing a rounded top forming. So the chart is changing now – caution IMO. It did also hit a Fib extension and bounced off a Fib support and is sitting between two Fib points”.

Watch it close – I expected a pull-back but expect it to run again.”

It’s running again.

$USDJPY Blog at first arrow warned of pull-back and at second arrow that it could take off again.

My Trading Plan for Currencies / Global Markets: $UUP (long US Dollar) seems to be a bit extended obviously, so this opportunity is a tad long in the tooth if you ask me – same with $USD/JPY. So for $GOLD and the miners $GDX watch the $USD/JPY closedly.

Emerging markets should be watched close now very closely IMO ($EEM, $EEV, $EDZ)

Gold: $GLD ($UGLD, $DGLD). Miners: $GDX ($NUGT, $DUST, $JDST, $JNUG)

My Trading Plan for Gold: I haven’t started to take trades yet because I am waiting for “price – trigger – trade” set-ups. I will start chewing around the edges of stocks like $NUGT and $GLD likely – very possibly today. The idea is to get on the right side of the trade and trend.

Silver: $SLV ($USLV, $DSLV)

My Plan for Trading Silver: Same as Gold, I’m waiting for the “price – trigger – trade” set-ups… I am going to start chewing around the edges of stocks when set-up confirms like $USLV and $SLV attempting to get on right side of trend trade.

IMPORTANT: Watch out for OPEC! Decision to come at latest tomorrow Nov 30 they say!

Outlook: We are bullish oil and have been for some time (since it bottomed in its most recent trading range).

Trading Plan: Of course I am waiting for OPEC decision but am in long $UWTI on small position in swing account. I commented on this in trading review from last night.

Natural Gas: ($UGAZ, $DGAZ):

As I said, was waiting for 3.10 with back test.

BUT there is the 200 day on the 1 week chart – omminous!

$NATGAS Looks like a possible short at 200 day on 1 week to me.

Be careful here now because the $USD/JPY chart (although not broken and still bullish) is showing a rounded top forming. So the chart is changing now – caution IMO. Overview Perspective of Chart Room, Trades and Alerts:

Kind of an odd day with Thanksgiving Day around the corner today. Market fade was heavy late day. Some small cap low floats were running a bit. Gold and Silver were the big watches for us because the price for both was either just entering the price target zone of our algos or really close.

Primary Lessons That May Help Your Trades:

$ANF Abercrombie trade lessons were two… #1 being most important and that is that 200 day on the 5 – once that 200 on the 5 got under the price it was rocket time (classic snap-back and gap fill). So waiting would have paid dividends. It just gets tough to stay on top of them over days. There is a recent wash-out on $SKLN that I should watch closer for this.

$JUNO Therapeutics was my #2 lesson… waiting for the proper set-up in terms of moving averages would have likely been safer – I’m in this swing 22.31 and it closed at 22.56.

My Stock Trading Plan for Wednesday November 16, 2016 in Chatroom.

Welcome to the Wednesday Wall Street trading session!

Algo work – As of this Monday our new equipment will be up and running full steam so I’ve scheduled next week in the room (when market is quiet) for algo work – I was going to start this week, and did a tad… but quickly realized all the machines need to be tied in for that.

Market Outlook – So yesterday the market inflection point started and continued over night and so the next few days will be interesting – there are battles in every corner… we’ll see. So I’ve started to chew around the edges of the inflection with instruments like $GDX but nothing is where you can really bite down on and go with yet. Obviously there’s anomolies like the shippers of late – but that’s intra anomoly plays I’m not really interested in but won’t disregard – and I know they’re all buying Lamborghinis today… I know. Oh and oil got up over important resistance during trade yesterday but lost it overnight so I’m looking for the 200 day on the 1 hour as possible long entry.

S & P 500 $SPY ($SPXL, $SPXS)

My bias is still to all time highs – although it has struggled some and with this inflection point – it’s a wait and see – we may see a pullback here first. The US Dollar is going to cause issues IMO as will other global market / credit / bond and small cap issues and more over the horizon. In that, I see a run in Gold and Silver soon then a pull back and then a big run.

My trading plan with $SPY: I expect volatility could get some lift here at market inflection and then get crushed and I will likely follow that trend with $TVIX $UVXY $XIV buys at range pivots / pending price action, volume and other geo events.

Volatility $VIX ($TVIX, $UVXY, $XIV)

I am still expecting it to get crushed – but it will likely get some lift here with the market inflection and short term pull back I’m seeing short term in indices etc.

My trading plan for $VIX is obviously $TVIX $UVXY $XIV day trade snipes.

$DXY US Dollar Index ($UUP US Dollar Bull, $UDN British Pound, $USD/JPY, $FXY Japanese Yen Trust, $CNY China, $TZA, $SMK / $EWW Mexico Capped ETF)

The US Dollar continues its rally at time of writing. I expect it to continue in its symmetry relative to last year before Christmas also. Anyway, my Twitter feed had me posting this run since early July. It should at least take a breather here. It is .2 cents off my price target.

My trading plan with $DXY is that I’m sitting tight. WHEN IT DOES reach it’s full symmetrical extension I will look at plays for the downside. If $USD/$JPY comes off some I may look at Miner’s and I’m expecting Russell 2000 to come off a bit – BUT YOU NEVER KNOW.

Gold $GLD, Miners $GDX ($NUGT, $DUST, $JDST, $JNUG)

My plan with Gold and the miners remains the same – patience. I have started to chew around the edges with tight trades but nothing yet. Watching $USD/$JPY close and $DXY and $FXY for clues on Gold and miners movements.

4:33 AM Update: EPIC the OIL Algo Blog Post Published.

If you are trading oil in the room be sure to always check EPIC the Oil Algo Twitter Feed for updates and recent reports etc.

Oil got up over resistance yesterday and lost it overnight (that thick blue line) – so I am hoping for the 200 day on the 1 Hour as a long entry.

In summary your trading ranges are as follows (as of 721 AM Nov 16, 2016):

Diagonal intra trend lines: Overhead Resistance 45.54. (change intra with diagonal blue lines).

Horizontal trend lines: Resistance – Many. Support – Many but one of note at 44.56. Refer to chart. (purple lines).

Moving average: Support at 200 MA on the 1 HR. Intra is at 44.51 (this will change intra)

Alpha algo lines: Refer to chart (red dotted diagonal).

Alpha algo targets for week: At time of writing EPIC has not released any updates.

Traditional chart pivots: Next segment of publishing from EPIC coming soon.

Traditional Fibonacci: Next segment of publishing from EPIC coming soon.

My plan trading oil is to take a long position in $UWTI at the 200 day on the 1 hour (pink line on chart) in my small account if the support holds and there is corresponding price action / volume. I will sell in to strength and re-enter as needed and I will sell VERY FAST if support is breached. If oil gets proper lift then I will consider entering in size long with my large swing account.

Study:

Free scanners to find momentum stocks that you can easily review charts of for indicators that bring probability of your trade being successful up considerably. These are not useful for first 30 minute market open super-nova type plays (you need a good momentum scanner for the first 30 mins of trade)… but are very useful for intra day scalping (start with trending stocks and then look at indicators intra for simple set-ups – study scan study scan study scan).

Overview Perspective of Chart Room, Trades and Alerts:

Today for me was a scalping day… worked moderately well. With a goal of 1% minimum per day (preferably 3%) I’m easily on track since the beta start of our trading room a couple weeks back (1% per day 10k to 1.14MM in 26 mos compounded).

Primary lessons I learned that may help your trades…

When EPIC the Oil Algo says something I’m still challenged to listen (it’s just math but wow accurate). Most recently I’m referring to the posts on EPIC’s feed last Thursday cancelling targets because the change in trend. The mistake I made was giving too much credence to the upward resistance points on the traditional charting. In other words, had I just taken an entry at the lower range of oil trade when EPIC had signalled the time / price cycle change was at hand and held that position I would now be up big. But I didn’t, I’ve been scalping #OIL using $UWTI between support and resistance – and of course doing that makes it almost impossible to gain what you would have if only you traded the range from the bottom support and held. I am still up – but not anything like I would be. NOW, to be clear, when EPIC publishes the new alpha algo targets soon I have become comfortable trading those… so my hold at support areas in a range becomes more assertive. So even I am learning how to use EPIC’s math as an edge – and trusting that math – but it has been spot on so I’m getting there.
$TWLO – for me this was a swing account (my larger account) trade and normally I’ll hammer down when I have a conviction on a trade and not snipe but swing. But when I entered $TWLO trade today I didn’t like the price action and cut early… it did come off after that exit so that part was done right as a scalp and it was a win but after hours it trended from approx. 34.65 to 35.65 range. So what’s the lesson? My thesis was correct and it was a swing so allowing short frame trading affect that conviction on a swing is simply nonsense.
