Intro:

Compound Trading is trading group involved with day trading, swing  trading and algorithmic model chart trading.

Time stamped entries (in permanent archive) copied to this blog are direct live log chat from chat trade room as they occurred (random chat from myself not applicable or other misc chat deleted). Chat trade room is also video recorded daily for trade archive.

$PLUG, $CALI, $INNL were the momentum plays on the day.

$PLUG I traded later in the day for a 1 cent loss on 10000 shares and $INNL I had on the swing trading side of our platform and on the daytrading side. The swing side we sold during premarket and I held 2000 shares on daytrading side hoping for a premarket pop and didn’t get it. Both I sold for a profit because I took the trade the afternoon before long for the swing and the news came out that night. Reminded me of the $VHC play last year (same thing happened) but in that instance I went in with 60% of my portfolio. Huge win then. $CALI I didn’t trade.

I am holding (in order of sizing – all moderately small size to micro sizing) –   $DUST, $ONTX, $XOM, $NE, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI (this is the daytrading portfolio and does not represent swing trading service portfolio): Looking at moving out of all these small positions over the next month or so. I am now 95% cash in daytrading account.

The Markets Looking Forward:

We have been warning folks (as a result of algorithm anomalies picked up) for sometime about significant resistance not far above in Oil and SPY so it will be interesting to see if we get through it. Here’s just some of the posts. The oil resistance cluster is much larger than the one identified on $SPY.

Algorithmic Chart Model Trading / News:

Epic the Oil Algo was at it again with a crazy price target hit to the penny and exact time at Wednesday #EIA report time at 10:30 AM. That call was made Sunday for that exact time and price Wednesday and what made it more interesting was how oil literally fell from the sky and landed right in the middle of the target. We caught it on video.

Main watchlist in my trading plan today: $INNL of course is on watch with my overnight hold, I was going to sell in premarket when it up 83% bought I though lets run it at open and see, OTC on watch $USRM, $LIGA, $MMEX. $PLUG, $INNL, $NEOT are the momentums on watch and $USOIL, $WTIC, $RIG are the oil related.

All my holds are small to mid size holds in this order according to sizing – $INNL, $ONTX, $DUST, $XOM, $NE, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI.

Per recent;

$DUST I will close for a loss if Gold holds 1260 – sucks, but it was a relatively small position (to portfolio size) but I didn’t follow the golden rule… when a trade goes against your plan cut fast and I didn’t so I will likely pay the price. And I guess what has become the second golden rule… listen to the algos… they haven’t been wrong yet – so yes, I didn’t listen to my own invention ROSIE the Gold Algo (give Rosie a little plug there she deserves it lol). Embarrassing, especially because ROSIE nailed the bottom many weeks in advance of the bottom – all I had to do was listen and boom new house. Sad.

Per recent reports:

There are significant resistance clusters above recent highs in oil and the S&P so I will be very cautious to upside going forward until recent highs are taken out and confirmed. The daytrading side I am 95% cash now that I am out of $UWT so I am fine. I see significant upside challenges in Oil and SPY with most recent highs being taken out.

I do trade morning momo stocks, but I do avoid risk – so often I avoid the first 30 minutes (gap and go) and trade momentum stocks later in the day after the wash-out looking for a snap-back. Just prior to open and shortly after open I post momentum stocks to the trade chat room (and Twitter and Stocktwits if I have time).

In play today in chat room and on markets:

Two momentum plays at market open today: $GNCMA and $BNTC. Both worked out for a win.

500 Shares 32.12 $GNCMA and 500 add 32.39 and 33.18 1000 shares add and closed $GNCMA out 33.30 all shares decent win not great but decent. Up 1144.00 and with the small $BNTC win around 1500.00 on the day.

Then late in the day after some research in to chatter, rumors and possible announcements I took a small 1000 share entry long in $INNL at 1.68 and the news hit later that evening.

We also did a $USOIL $WTI, Gold $GLD, and US Dollar $DXY review and recorded it and uploaded to YouTube intra-day you will find below.

Our issue with a market rip is primarily the once in a decade resistance cluster not far over head for oil, and it’s slowly downtrending.

$NVCR Premarket up 60% on news.

I traded $NVCR in momo open for small paper cut and $XIV flat to start day, then $AKTX for a small 160.00 win, then $AKTX for a -460.00 loss and $XIV for a 1535.00 win so I was up 1235.00 on the day not including my swing plays. Tough day actually.

I found most of the momentum stocks ran in premarket so market open was tough to say the least and then when I did lock on a momentum it liquidity and power would dry up.

So today was about trade size management and risk loss management.

The two I wish I would have hit that were both on my watchlist was the oil $USOIL $WTIC related short in $DWT or $DWTI (our algorithm had it set perfectly for me) and $MMEX I had on watch and should have never missed.

ANY EARLY TRADER should strongly consider the video snippets on YouTube from today’s session EVEN THOUGH we had a problem with mic quality and echo and the market was not exciting. The management of technicals, indicators and personal emotional intelligence required to execute with-out a loss and a profit on a day like Monday is mega. Not my ego at work there – it takes a lot of work to harness what is required to do that.

So the videos will help you learn how to trade if you are not an expert – I guarantee you.

So I embed one of the videos below, but there is a better one that came at the end of day when I was scaling in to $XIV that Sartaj will be uploading to our YouTube page sometime Tuesday – DO NOT MISS IT if you’re trying to get over the wall! It got very detailed and it has secrets in it – I am telling you, do not miss it if you are struggling with your trade account.

My day consisted of a small momentum play in $ACOR that netted minor gains, an intra-day trade in $XIV netting around 400.00 and trading in and out of a 70% position in $UWT intra-day (adding to 30%) and closing out 100% $UWT swing trade on week for a 13,700.00 gain on that play. One of my better trades for the quarter.

Per last post; My large play is with $UWT, without explaining all the details early in the week I entered a small position $UWT at support and scaled in to the trade (it is a 3 x leveraged ETN related to oil $USOIL $WTIC) and by yesterday I was scaling out 70%. Anyway on 5000 shares scaled in (and trade isn’t done yet) I am up around 12,000.00 this week on this trade and will likely land around 15,000 if I can scale out of last 30% where I think it will find final resistance. So it’s one of my better trades in recent time.

Holding $UWT 30% of a 100% position. Looking for a continuation of rally in crude oil or failure of support.

All small to mid size holds in this order according to sizing – $ONTX, $DUST, $XOM, $NE, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI.

Per recent;

$DUST I will close for a loss if Gold holds 1260 – sucks, but it was a relatively small position (to portfolio size) but I didn’t follow the golden rule… when a trade goes against your plan cut fast and I didn’t so I will likely pay the price. And I guess what has become the second golden rule… listen to the algos… they haven’t been wrong yet – so yes, I didn’t listen to my own invention ROSIE the Gold Algo (give Rosie a little plug there she deserves it lol). Embarrassing, especially because ROSIE nailed the bottom many weeks in advance of the bottom – all I had to do was listen and boom new house. Sad.

Market Outlook / Trading Plan:

It is Friday, last day of the month, and last day of the quarter – be cautious and take it easy today.

Per last report: There are significant resistance clusters just above recent highs in oil and the S&P so I will be very cautious to upside going forward until recent highs are taken out and confirmed. I will also be wanting to move out of my significant swing trading side holdings and pick more closely. The daytrading side I am 75% cash (and 95% when out of $UWT) so I am fine. I see significant upside challenges in Oil and SPY with most recent highs being taken out.

Swing trades on watch for me again (in addition to our algorithm models because everything is either at resistance or support) today (some are same as from our swing trading platform side) are $BABA, $VRX, $NFLX, $WYNN, $XME, $URRE, $TAN, $TWLO, $GSIT, $ABX and considering adding $LIT to the list. I didn’t take a trade in $XBIO but I did speak  to members that did – and they did well actually. I wasn’t convinced the fundamentals or the chart had merit so I was nervous with it. I did take a small trade in $PRAN at momentum open but small.

My large play is with $UWT, without explaining all the details early in the week I entered a small position $UWT at support and scaled in to the trade (it is a 3 x leveraged ETN related to oil $USOIL $WTIC) and by yesterday I was scaling out 70%. Anyway on 5000 shares scaled in (and trade isn’t done yet) I am up around 12,000.00 this week on this trade and will likely land around 15,000 if I can scale out of last 30% where I think it will find final resistance. So it’s one of my better trades in recent time.

$HTGM was the big premarket mover, I didn’t take a trade but I know members that did and banked.

My first trade was $APOP at open I was in at 10.14 for 1000 shares and out at 10.98. Small win +840.00

Second trade was $APOP later at 11.56 and held through day and cut for small loss 10.44 later in day. 1000 shares -1200.00.

My next trade was the first of a series of entries and exits and which became a large trade as oil trade progressed through the week (to the point where I was in 100% size and when I trade oil related it can get large relative to my portfolio because my win rate in oil related is near 97%). Anyway, I started with a long $UWT position at 10% size 1000 shares at 16.55.

My last trade was in $USRM for a 1/5 size trade 100,000 shares at .0825 and out at .1053 for a nice win + 2279.00

So I was up on the day about 1800.00 not including the huge win that progressed through the week in oil related long ETN $UWT.

I am holding (in order of sizing – all moderately small size to micro sizing) – $DUST, $ONTX, $XOM, $NE, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI (this is the daytrading portfolio and does not represent swing trading service portfolio): Looking at moving out of all these small positions over the next month or so. I am now 95% cash in daytrading account.

Current Holds / Trading Plan:

We have Gold and Silver at resistance, the US Dollar at possible support, Oil at support, $SPY at support and volatility $VIX is finally alive! Today, or at least the next few days the decisions should be made. Either way it looks like we have some trading range coming!

Even though my holds are small in size I would like to start focusing on trading out of some of these, if not all. With the current downdraft in market I may not be able to get out of these for a while – VERY SMALL part of my portfolio now – I am 95% or more cash.

All small to mid size holds in this order according to sizing – $ONTX, $DUST, $XOM, $NE, $ASM, $SSH, $LGCY, $TRCH, $ESEA, $MGTI.

Per recent;

$DUST I will close for a loss if Gold holds 1260 – sucks, but it was a relatively small position (to portfolio size) but I didn’t follow the golden rule… when a trade goes against your plan cut fast and I didn’t so I will likely pay the price. And I guess what has become the second golden rule… listen to the algos… they haven’t been wrong yet – so yes, I didn’t listen to my own invention ROSIE the Gold Algo (give Rosie a little plug there she deserves it lol). Embarrassing, especially because ROSIE nailed the bottom many weeks in advance of the bottom – all I had to do was listen and boom new house. Sad.

Market Outlook / Trading Plan:

Swing trades on watch for me again (in addition to our algorithm models because everything is either at resistance or suport) today (some are same as from our swing trading platform side) are $BABA, $VRX, $NFLX, $WYNN, $XME, $URRE, $TAN, $TWLO, $GSIT, $ABX and considering adding $LIT to the list. Also recently added to watch $CEW, $MYL, $TZA, $TREE and today added are $NVDA, $SOXS, $KBH, $BCOR. Also on OTC side new are $USRM, $PLSB, $LIGA and $ASCK.

I do trade morning momo stocks, but I do avoid risk – so often I avoid the first 30 minutes (gap and go) and trade momentum stocks later in the day after the wash-out looking for a snap-back. Just prior to open and shortly after open I post momentum stocks to the trade chat room (and Twitter and Stocktwits if I have time).

Some of my Favorite Set-Ups:

(1) Momentum Stock Wash-Outs for Snap Back, (2) Bad News Wash-outs on Stocks with High Institutional Ownership, (3) Getting on the Right Side of a Trend Change and scaling in my position and (4) Our Algorithm Set-Ups.

Free scanners to find momentum stocks that you can easily review charts of for indicators that bring probability of your trade being successful up considerably. These are not useful for first 30 minute market open gap and go type plays (you need a good momentum scanner, level 2, and best to have hot-keys for the first 30 mins of gap and go trading)… but are very useful for intra day scalping and swing trading (start with trending stocks and then look at indicators intra for simple set-ups – study scan study scan study scan).
