Intro:

Compound Trading is trading group involved with day trading, swing  trading and algorithmic model chart trading.

Time stamped entries (in permanent archive) copied to this blog are direct live log chat from chat trade room as they occurred (random chat from myself not applicable or other misc chat deleted). Chat trade room is also video recorded daily for trade archive.

In addition to chat, this trade-room has live voice broadcast (that covers in detail what indicators I am looking for in and out off each trade) and has live chart screen sharing right from my monitor to the room with all indicators I am looking at. At times guest traders and associate  traders will screen share charting and/or voice broadcast.

Last weekend we produced some simple swing charting that keeps me level when looking at the markets (examples below). Simple charting I find grounds you to simple trades which in turn keeps you profitable in toppy or sideways markets.

Please note: Miscellaneous chatter removed from transcript and some discussions I will add notes with information I’ve gleaned in discussions online with traders on DM etc also for further explanation (noted with *). Also, times are Central Mountain below (we’re working on the fix now), so for New York ET time add two hours to all times. Also, most days at 9:30 ET market open there is moderator live broadcast explaining trades and at times during the day there is also live broadcast market updates and trade set-up explanations (so you have to scroll through video feed to market open etc to catch live broadcast portions – in future we will note in in transcript when we are on the mic so viewers can correlate time with transcript with video feed when reviewing trades). 

Note: It is very unfortunate the first hour is missing on the transcript (hence why were are testing a new trading room next week). Most of the action was in the first hour – but the video does have the charting and audio for learning traders.

Note 2: Also, there is an issue with transcript spacing from Friday (below). We will clean this up when we have a moment over the next few days.

Overview Perspective & Review of Markets, Chat Room, Algo Calls, Trades and Alerts:

$ZAIS, $GALT, $PHMD, $RELV, $CYNO, $LPTH were the big movers Tuesday. I was in $GALT ended flat but many of the members in premarket and the open hit the momentum stocks (got a lot of DM messages, it was active).

The room was quieter than normal and most members I spoke to were studying and reconciling accounts / looking over trade plans etc.

I spoke to members that were in most of the plays $ZAIS, $GALT, $PHMD, $RELV, $CYNO, $LPTH and most didn’t get chopped up and were on winning side if they were in them, good group of traders in the room and the newer traders continue to share there appreciation for the wisdom found in there. So all good!

Natural gas we were all over in the morning also, I didn’t take a trade but many in our room did catch $UGAZ spike and all I spoke to sold in to the spike and some re-bought this morning or are again.

Looking Forward:

The small and micro momentum stocks continue to pop, however, traders need to be cautious because often its the low floats and thin trade can be difficult to chip out of positions – caution warranted in many ways.

Our standard plays that reflect the six algorithm charting we do are all at decisions at either support or resistance so this should get really interesting soon. Epic our oil algorithm Tuesday 4:30 target area hit (not perfect to the cent and second but trade was in target area).

Our swing trading side continues to outperform all my expectations for 2017 (you can find the most recent unlocked newsletter on our blog) – I had a feeling it was going to do well, just didn’t quite expect a grandslam. We’re in the middle of compiling our next set of stock picks for the swing trading members and will have them out over next few days – hopefully that batch will bring the same type of returns as the new year batch did and continue to in most instances.

US Dollar $DXY $USDJPY $UUP:

$DXY US Dollar is threatening to the trend reversal side, but not confirmed yet.

Gold $GLD $XAUUSD / Gold Miner’s $GDX:

Gold and Miner’s are both at what we consider key resistance.

Silver $SLV:

Silver is at what consider key resistance area also.

Crude Oil $USOIL $WTI:

Crude oil in premarket touched key support – this could get interesting if it loses support. There are a few other supports just under are of trade, but not much. Multi week trade range support for example is just under current area of trade.

Volatility continues its flat line.

$SPY S&P 500:

$SPY continues the break-out. Trade the Fibs and buy the dip until you can’t. Respect stops.

Natural Gas:

It seems to be near a low IMO.

Momentum Trades:

As noted above, the low float micros and small cap issues continue in momo.

Swing Trading:

As noted above, we have literally sent one out of the park after another. Continues to look good forward.

General Market Outlook:

Looks like Gold, Silver, Oil came off a bit and the US Dollar may be about to get a bounce – but the jury is out and we’ll see how the day goes here today. $VIX is still dead and $SPY came off a bit yesterday and may get going today or tomorrow, again we’ll see.

I do trade morning momo stocks, but I do avoid risk – so often I avoid the first 30 minutes (gap and go) and trade momentum stocks later in the day after the wash-out looking for a snap-back. Just prior to open and shortly after open I post momentum stocks to the trade chat room (and Twitter and Stocktwits if I have time).

Free scanners to find momentum stocks that you can easily review charts of for indicators that bring probability of your trade being successful up considerably. These are not useful for first 30 minute market open gap and go type plays (you need a good momentum scanner, level 2, and best to have hot-keys for the first 30 mins of gap and go trading)… but are very useful for intra day scalping and swing trading (start with trending stocks and then look at indicators intra for simple set-ups – study scan study scan study scan).

Trading Room Transcripts and Post Market Trading Reports – Some members have asked about trading room transcript accessibility, we are currently interviewing providers and should have an announcement early next week. The post market trading result reports that we haven’t posted over the last few weeks we will catch up on this weekend and going forward will do our best to get them out daily, but I get it, the more convenient and timely the data is the better – so we’re working on that solution right now.

Overview Perspective & Review of Chat Room, Algo Calls, Trades and Alerts:

Good day, traded $OPXA (hold) $ZAIS and oil related $UWT again for wins. Have some good ones one watch also for Monday I think. Still haven’t found a way to really size in yet though – would like to see that this week.

Also, I’m still on the wrong side of that Gold / Miners / Silver trade and I have absolutely no excuse because I knew months in advance the bottom call from Rosie the Gold Algo and SuperNova Silver Algo – and I even doubled down on $DUST the other day. HOWEVER, Gold does have two very significant hurdles coming overhead that have low probabilities of price action clearing (with-out a pull back) – unless of course geopolitical reasons change that.

I am of course watching our standards that apply to our algorithmic charting – everything is near a series of decisions. US Dollar $DXY and $USDJPY at support decision, $GOLD $SILVER at decision resistance, $OIL at decision resistance, $VIX is almost dead, $SPY came alive some in Friday trade.

Still playing morning momos and waiting for the current decisions to play out.

Also watching $ZAIS, $IMFI, $FNMA (Trump play – not currently in but have been trading them), $OPXA (in small and looking for a run – like the chart), $ASM (great story referred by HedgeHog, watching very close), $DUST (looking for intermin Gold reversal as I am in 2/5 size so I may hammer other 3/5 and play a turn for a flat goal), $JUNO and $CBMX (will hold in to late spring if needed and may add), $TRCH and $LGCY (oil and Trump play).
